I'd have Aurelio at LB and Johnson RM personally.

Johnson just aint really a LB, but at least there are signs that we are in the market for one, so this will not be a long term thing.
    Forwards.......

I wouldn't be suprised if both were being sold............ I'd keep Ngog myself but rumours state he's not exactly safe.

The problem with this is it can easily end up being a very flat 451. Especially as Kuyt & Maxi don't have the pace to be switching from Midfield to attack quickly.

Shocking selection for the second game running. Johnson at left back!? Really?

It's probably going to be a long painful afternoon.

If they had the positioning they wouldn't need pace to keep the shape.

                    Extreme examples:

Under Hodgson LFC needed pace as they all sat deep. To cause the opposition problems we needed pace to counter quickly - which we lacked.

Under Holloway Blackpool keep their attackers pushed up virtually all game. Means the opposition can't commit so it doesn't leave you as weak at the back as you'd think. Villas-Boas uses the same method at Porto. Means you don't need quick wide players - though of course it always helps.

I have a really bad feeling about this game, although it's more because of Johnson than Spearing... I have some confidence in the latter since I though he did pretty well in those important matches (ManU and Real Madrid) when he came on. Still, that Sunderland match where he started was just...

                        What difference does that make?

Either way I'm guessing we've changed manager at least once since then, if not twice.

I'd like to see shelvey and Pacheco given a good half hour, add some young flair and creativity into the team

think it shows how thin our squad is rather than blaming selection. At the moment it is all about thinking positive and looking forward. The last time things were this bad was when Souness had a shocking squad. The positives out of that was that youngsters had to be brought in and between 92 and 97 we actually brought players in that did a job for us over the years. Hasn't happened since but here's hoping...

Happy enough with that team, Spearing has rarely let us down and won't shirk from a challenge. Merelies needs to step up in that position, though he does link well with Maxi.
