Nail on the headOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostWe will have a problem this coming summer. His contract runs until 2013, so by June, he'll be two years away.
By which stage, we have to each sign a new deal or sell.
Big, big summer for Liverpool FC:
Torres - stay or go? Needs to be decided one way or another. He has the option of an additional year on his contract. Hopefully he excercises that. If he doesn't we have to sell and use the funds to rebuild.
Manager - probably need a new manager. Always turbulent times for any club.
Owners first proper transfer window - let's all hope they don't dissapoint.
Rest of the squad - having watched us play the way we have done for the past season and a half under 3 different manager, I am in doubt whatsoever that we need to do some serious rebuilding. The majority of the players at the club aren't good enough to be first team. Hopefully we'll see lots of departures.
New stadium - the owners will probably have made a decision on the new stadium by then as wellK ris90210

Hope to God, Torres gives it another season at Liverpool, i'm a little more hopeful than a few weeks ago.
Looks so much happier with Dalglish as manager and the new style of play - getting plenty of service from the midfield and he isn't totally isolated.
Maybe he knows we're bringing in some new players as well hence the change of attitude.

If he's happy with the football we are playing and Kenny as manager if Kenny stays you can only imagine that will encourage him to playThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I can see him flourishing under Kenny more so than he did under Rafa. In yesterdays game against Wolves he wouldn't have scored any goals for Hodgson (due to his tactics isolating him) and under Rafa he couldn't have scored more than one (due to likely being subbed). If we play football which will bring the best out of him (and lets face it, so far so good) and he sees improvements in results (again so far so good) then there will be no reason for him to look elsewhere."That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.
Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

Under Rafa he had an absolutely exceptional goalscoring record, easily the best of his career. I don't have it to hand but it can't have been far off a goal a game. If Kenny can get him back to matching that, we'll all be made up. No manager has ever coaxed more out of Torres in his entire career than Benitez, that is a fact.

I don't dispute that Rafa got the best out of Torres. He turned him into what he is today. He has never done for Spain what he has done for us. But Rafa did sub him quite often after an hour. I think had he of not subbed him he would have an even greater goal scoring record. I could understand why he dragged him, particularly as the game was won at times. But if Kenny leaves him on the pitch longer he will deliver more. It remains to be seen whether early substitutions lead to less incidence of injury. We'll see.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHuh?

Rafa didn't subbed him quite often after an hour. He did it sometimes with about 5-10 minutes or so left. Strikers with Torres playing style can more easily pick up injuries late in the games. Players that use a lot of sprint technique.Originally posted by jono View PostI don't dispute that Rafa got the best out of Torres. He turned him into what he is today. The very few times he did subbed him with 30 or so minutes left he got a lot of stick even if the team almost every time played better and created more chances.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

He was taken off with 5 mins to go a fair bit yeah, but very rarely after an hour. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I felt that it was a lot earlier than the 80 - 85 minute mark but having said that based on yesterdays performance he would have scored only one under Rafa. My intention is not to start up a pro-anti Rafa thread, but I can see him doing really really well under the current structure with Kenny in charge.Originally posted by Arn View PostRafa didn't subbed him quite often after an hour. We all hope he once again thrives under Dalglish
