I like the fact Suarez says he's a "lucky" striker. Evident last night. Inzaghi like and annoys the balls off opposition players and fans

Thought Mark Wright talked an awful lot of sense on the show last night, summed up what I thought about the match and talked sense about the club as a whole. He should definitely be on more often, was a welcome break from Gillespie. Didn’t realise he was an LFC fan though, or was that for the cameras?

Anyway, delighted with the performance. Despite my concerns about the formation and the personnel, I thought almost everyone benefited from it bar the two wing backs (who did ok, just not playing a natural position).

Thought Skrtel and Kyrgiakos looked a lot more assured and the extra bodies definitely helped them.

Agger I thought was excellent and took full advantage of having two covering CB’s by getting forward at every opportunity.

Aurelio looked very sharp in midfield, some lovely passing and looked like he’d been playing every week. Such a quality player, robbed by injuries.

Lucas continued his great form this season, found himself with a lot of time on the ball and used it wisely. Was brilliant first half.

Gerrard got to play his ‘favoured’ position without having to be as disciplined as would be expected in a 2 man midfield and really took advantage. Was all over the pitch.

I previously doubted Meireles ability to play in the hole, but who can argue now. Lovely strike with his weaker foot.

And how good was it to see our CF work tirelessly for 90 minutes, get stuck in without moaning and whinging all match? Led the line well and a good assist for the second.

        Oh, and Suarez.

Looking forward to watching the match again later and can’t wait for Chelsea now.

I'm not sure that's a glowing recommendation for him TBH

Mark Wright does be on as a co-commentator on TV3 (Ireland) coverage of the Europa League quite often, and usually handles all our games.
Catch him giving it the "we" every so often when describing our performance during the game, but don't really find him offering anything other than obvious analysis of the game..........having said that, thats probably because problems stood out a mile during Roy's historic run through the early part of the competition.

Still beats the ‘back in our day’ guff most ex players come out with.

Which new signing would we not be able to do just to have Carra in the stands or the bench?

We simply won't be able to throw away something like £80k-£90k a week in wages just to keep a local lad that won't be good enough.

Maybe if the contract would be a £10k a week contract. Then he could stay.

You are clearly on a wind up or just plain stupid.

The board would have to turn down other players, youngsters or new signings just to keep Carra. We will have a max limit on wages from this summer.

Every pound will be a lot more important. To keep a player on such high wages as Carra is on would be just idiotic just because of what he achieved in the past.

what in fowlers name are you on about? we can have as big a wage bill as we want as long as we have the revenue to back it up. there isn't any limit on wages nor is there a limit on transfers. the financial fair play rules are there to level tha playing field for all european clubs, becuse some are not allowed(german clubs) to take on loans to sign players.

and they won't be implemented until 2013/2014(and even then with leverage for debt ridden clubs) season with the next two seasons' - 11/12 and 12/13 - accounts already counting for the licence you get to play in european competition.

and why would it harm younger players in the team?! uefa actullay encourage clubs spending on academies, training facilities etc. and that sort of expenditure is not written down in the accounts for the financial fair play licence..

Commolli; I have never seen a man in the director's box (and I sit right by it) get so excited when Suarez scored he was jumping round like a mad man high fiving all sorts of people.

                    Carroll; Is a big man.
Good to see!! Not bothered if it is him boasting of whatever, showing Passion helps breed a team spirit, I'd take lads serving drinks celebrating.

I was also happily surprised with Comolli's reaction when Suarez scored. It means he's dedicated and loves life here and his job.

It makes the sport much more human and enjoyable when you see that the ones running the club have fun doing it.

Not sure, just read on other forums he wasn't as chirpy as usual and looked to be on a downer - maybe something of nothing. Or maybe not

To be honest i've doubted him at CM, i know a lot of people on here wanted to see him in the CM and Stevie behind the striker, but for me moving Raul away from the midfield battle zone as such, and pushing up near the goal is a smart move, its simple playing to his strengths, which are great runs and his shooting.

My doubt about Meireles was the whole 'physicality' issue, and from what i've seen thus far i'd much rather him up near the goal than in the rough and tumble of the midfield.

Stevie ran the show in the middle of the park, he was everywhere, his range of passing was superb last night, kept us ticking over and going forward. I don't know what hell our formation and line up will be once Carroll is fit, but i can only see it as a great headache to have, Kuyt was fantastic at CF last night too, we are a much stronger squad these days

P.S. Completely agree with whole post
