Ha ha, it was that last cryptic post on a similar subject which you read the other week which made me reconsider hitting send today as this one was just as confusing and maybe a bit OTT.

Maybe I should explain what I meant with all the stats.

It showed that Carra hasn't improved his passing. If you look at the chalkboard then you will see that he missed many short passes and not only long hoofs.

Maybe you should have looked at the chalkboard before having a go at me.

Then the Gerrard one.

If you again look at the chalkboard then you will discover that Lucas actually tried at least as many long passes as our Captain. The difference was that Lucas succeeded with more of them.

Carra must improve his passing game or he won't be good enough in a pass and move team. No passengers allowed. He is still a great fighter with a lot of heart and that is what is saves him. He never gives up a duel.

The chalkboard doesn't tell the whole story - purely passing. Gerrard offers a lot more than that.

I did criticise Carra and his 'hoofing' in the match thread.

I nearly made a post yesterday that Carra shouldn't start because we've kept 3 clean sheets and he needs to earn his place back. Changed my mind since he's VC.

I was worried that he would make a late tackle and concede a penalty or something due to a lack of match fitness but I thought he was immense today and many have said he was MOM.

That's the benefit our Manager has though, they see the players training everyday and know a lot more about football than we do, well I except for our last Manager. We only see the game time.

Didn't notice any hoofing to be honest, typical desperate defending by everyone in the last 15 minutes when you are trying to hold onto a lead but we've had plenty of glorious nights like that before.

Someone made the point about match thread comments being permanent and no more than what others say on the stands or at the TV. I think that's true and not sure why anyone would get worked up about those comments actually. Maybe those posts should even be deleted 24 hours after the game .

I wasn't bitching at any of our players today though. Well a little bit at Maxi when he gifted Traitor a chance but I didn't say anything when he missed the sitter. I was pretty calm and confident all through the game. Thanks to the King I'm much more relaxed watching the games now.

Carra was first class today, as was Agger and Skrtel. You know what you get with Carra. He's a better defender than either Skrtel or Agger, he's also the worst of the three on the ball. He doesn't take any risks and sometimes in football you have to play it a bit risky in order to progress the play.

Carra started on the right of the defence, but who saw the danger and blocked Torres getting a goalbound effort in? Carra did. And that was Torres cutting in from our left, so Carra must have seen that and come all the way across the pitch to block it.

As for Gerrard. He's not the most disciplined player we have, though he was steady as a rock today. But he is the one all the players look to still. The one who makes the team tick, and let's not forget, he was the one who set the goal up today with an amazing cross. He does things that Meireles and Lucas are not capable of.

but he nearly played someone in. and at 1-0 away to chelsea in the dying minutes, i think he can be forgiven to handing the ball off to a forward player and maintaining his position.

He always seemed very concerned about Carra's well being when they clattered into each other. Helping hand up, checking he's OK and everything.

Just watching the full match back again now, upto 50 minutes now - and i genuinely havent heard the chelsea fans at all.

Those who watched it all earlier - did they actually sing at ANY point in the game???

ah. i thought we were talking about tthe last 10 minutes or so when he was picking up the ball and distributing it out past the chelsea players tring to trap us in our own half and closing down the lanes. to the only person we had forward in many cases

JC and SG were immense today, as were all our players (bar Mini). I didn't put all my faith in a chalkboard as a kid and I ain't going to start now.
