Steve Clarke has been immense for us. Top, top appointment.

He was a key influence on Chelseas backline and is a key influence on our recent improvement at the back.

As myself and many others on this site said, it wasn't LFC lacking quality players, it was lacking quality leadership. Be interesting to see how many people think the squad needs a massive overhaul if this upsurge in form continues.

i still think we have a number of squad players who are playing above what i would normally expect from them, and would like to see some genuine top class talent arrive.

We have played this system a few times before the last few seasons so it isn't anything new. They just had to dust it off and change a few details to fit the players we have now.

A lot of the players now the system so it isn't that difficult to use it in the middle of the season.

It would probably be almost impossible to change to a completely new system in the middle of the season. That would have to wait until the pre-season.

If KK and Clarke is still here then that is the time to make big tactical changes if they need to do it.

I don't think they will though. What we lacked under Benitez was a bit of flair, more depth to our attacking game. That's where I think Kenny (if he's given the job full time) will concentrate on this summer.
            Are we winning?

I agree. Wouldn't surprise me if KK talked a lot with Rafa about tactics and still do it to help him out this season.

It would be strange if he hadn't done that to find out weaknesses and strengths of the players and then make the changes he need to do based on that.

By that I'm not saying that it is Rafa's team or tactics because even small changes makes it 100% KK and Clarke's tactic.

Credit again to KK for appointing him (was him wasn't it)? Clarke was sitting claiming his dole before KK came knocking. Lets hope we can keep hold of our new Pako this time!!

might've been kk, might have been anybody at the club really. think they all work together on the big decisions.

Shearer on MOTD2 tonight saying KK is a great man manager but not especially inovative tactically. Seemed to think our current formation and way of playing is more likely down to SC's input.

He talks some amount of smack.

I'm so excited. And I just cant hide it. I'm about to loose control and I think I like it.

Indeed he does frequently, however he did play under KK so I'm not sure his opinion can be completely discounted

To be fair, unlike us, he's had some first hand experience Dalglish's tactical management. But third man running, etc, would be something Dalglish used back in the days so that's a weird statement admittedly.

Maybe BBC desperately trying to get some love-in, ala Sky, with the Russians by bigging up one of their ex-coaches. Like with Johnson's 'penalty' appeal which in no way is ever given in the penalty box and shouldn't even have been discussed.

Doing a different formation is hardly being innovative, especially when it's 352. But whoever decided it, I don't care, it's got us 6 points out of 6.

It actually makes sense tbh. We lack wide players with pace so to use wing backs instead is probably the best way to go about injecting pace into the side. We have 4 good CB's and putting them in a three actually covers there onw weaknesses as well. Neither get exposed at the back due to the full back being upfield, and it also means if one of them gets caught out of position we are still solid in the centre.

Everyone raves about Barca and they adopt a kind of a three at the back themselves with Busquets dropping back to form a three. I'm not sure we'll stick with three at the back but it does make sense.

                              Indeed.

Fundamentally the point he was making was that getting Clarke in was a big positive which as things stand is hard to argue with.

Oh yeah, I agree. I (and many others) said the same thing when it was said he was coming in. Great appointment on the face of it and it's proving to be a good one in reality too.
