If Joey Barton wasn't such a scumbag, he'd be an option but there's other midfield players out there - that lad McCarthey at Wigan looks a good prospect.

He's just starting to show the promise that saw Scotland and Ireland FAs fight over him. He has been quoted (somewhere) as wanting to be the next Gerrard and he certainly has the close control and power going forward.

I would try to sign at least 3 of these if we have funds to so:

Sanchez (my first pick)
Nzogbia (If we cannot sign Sanchez I think he would well for us)
M'Vila (my third pick)
Kross (I really think he'll be a very good player)
Subotic (if not him Cahill or even Otamendi)
Cissoko or Coentrao (either of them would do but Coentrao would be my second pick)

One of the players that I would also consider would be Sahin from Borussia.

Very good prospect imo. Only 22 and has been one of best Borussia's player lately. Remind me a lot of Agger in term of his technical atributes but has much better aerial presence. Very intelligent player.

I realize Nzogbia is not your cup of tea but I think he could do well for us. Already proven and still fairly young and with great shortage of good wingers imo he'd be a decent signing.

I think he would be getting a winger for the sake of getting a winger. There is good reason why he has only been with Newcastle and Wigan and only Newcastle bid for him in January.

I don't think we need a straight winger, we need someone who can do more and importantly works a hell of a lot harder, not someone who will show up every 10 games and not put in enough effort for the team in general. He'd be like getting a far ****ter version of Arshavin in that case. Mediocre midtable player who hasn't shown anything near enough to be considered for a top team like we wish to be.
