i think with maxi, he's a very adept cog in the machine type player at this point. if you're looking for him to create something, you'll be disappointed, but he can slot in and support a team that's not built around his own play. problem is when nobody is really being clever, it shows him up because he plays in one of the areas of the pitch where you look to make things happen when the match isn't going your way. brilliant at doing a job, but isn't a player that can push us on himself.

I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
      Mine angry and defrauded young?

just watching sunderland v spurs. steve bruce managed to sign both sessegnon and sulley muntari on loan for the rest of the season.

why arent we capable of finding these types of loan deals because sessegnon has quality and muntari is a midfield enforcer with a sweet left peg. when you look at our bench today you wonder why we havent brought in more players.

Stubborn behaviour to say the least, we've been critical of Meireles in the past(and rightly so) but now that's he's started performing, we've praised him.

A little bit of humility goes along way.

probably because unless you're pretty clued up on where the club is atm, you'd guess that a player on loan to us might not play very much.

I think that's a good summary Dave. He's a player who looks good when the team is playing well but never grabs the game by the scruff of the neck or sets the agenda. He's steady without ever being a stand out. I think we need more from our attacking players, although he's a useful squad option.

if you're a team in france or italy, and not seen us play too much recently, going by our pedigree, and let's face it, it was pretty recently that we were really a pretty great side, then loaning a player to us could result in your player sitting on the bench most of the season. even if we tell them otherwise. the point of loaning players to teams that are a bit ****, i would've thought, is to ensure that they play as much as possible, and hopefully take a lot of responsibility because the players around your loanee aren't as good so he would need to depend on himself and really raise his game. that's all. it's fm 101, if you want your player to progress, don't loan him to a club where he won't play every game.

Matt's opinions on football are perfectly valid, however, his view on Katy Perry is appalling.
