Never said he was a holding player. He's a box to box man by the looks of it.

Great engine, and not short of ability on the ball.

Probably because both of those deal are with a view to permanent moves

      We have other targets

This is what FSG have been at pains to emphasise over and over again the club have too many short term decisions over the last few years

Im actually depressed we dropped 2 points today. Suarez was good... probably our best, but lacked composure at times. And he goes down too early as well. Jovo is proper ****. Like, PROPER ****. He lost the ball every time he got it. And I cant wait till Carroll is fit! Drop Maxi, Dirka Dirka will drop back into midfield, and with Gerrard and Raul bombing forward, we should be be able to get more goals to finnish these types of games off!

I'm so excited. And I just cant hide it. I'm about to loose control and I think I like it.

His delivery was ****ing woeful and just like your stream he blew hot and cold

As someone has mentioned N'Zogbia has a terrible reputation as a "big time charlie"

Look at what Kenny has said about signings both Carroll AND Suarez were Liverpool players both on the pitch and even when they checked their attitudes on and off the pitch it fit our criteria

            Someone suggested it earlier

Hes quality though, I'd like us to go for him but obviously it depends on exactly how much we are going to spend

i'd like to believe that we are 100% satisfied that andy carroll won't be a discipline problem, but the extra alcohol study sessions at melwood don't bode well.

Thats a whole different problem to having a big time charlie in your camp

Carroll drinking only affects his own performances, an attitude like N'Zogbia reportedly has can upset the whole balance in terms of squad moral and togetherness

You could also look at this in a positive light, if it helps him realise how much better he could be I don't see a problem - rather this was done to prevent the drinking now rather than wait until he's playing and then he goes out and does something daft!

Kenny blames midweek internationals for lack of Liverpool spark

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish felt his side's lack of spark in the 1-1 draw at home to Wigan was partly down to the effect of the midweek internationals.

Having lost Daniel Agger, Denmark's scorer against England, prior to kick-off with an adductor injury the Reds boss felt several of his other players were below their recent best.

Liverpool 1-1 Wigan: Gohouri rescues vital point for Latics

Even Raul Meireles, who scored his fifth goal in six matches to put the Reds ahead in the 24th minute, was not immune after being forced off just after half-time through sickness.

Liverpool failed to capitalise on the advantage he had given them and Steve Gohouri poked home the equaliser midway through the second half.

The result could have been different had man of the match Luis Suarez enjoyed better fortune, hitting the post and the bar.

It ended Liverpool's four-match winning run but Dalglish was philosophical about the result.

"I think it was a game where we started well enough, pushed forward and scored a good goal by Raul again," he said.

"Luis hit the post but you could tell they had been playing Wednesday night a lot of them.

"There was just that little bit of an edge missing and if they had had that they the final pass would have been better.

"I think there were three or four occasions in the first half we would have been in, but the sharpness was just missing a bit, which is understandable.

"Obviously we are disappointed not to take the three points and with a bit of luck maybe we would have, despite the performance not being as good as it has been in the past.

"I think Wigan may have been a bit aggrieved if they had gone away without a point but Luis hit the post twice and their goal was offside - these things happen.

"We just have to brush ourselves down and get on with it. It's not been too damaging. We'll keep going."

Suarez, a £22.8million signing from Ajax late last month, enjoyed an impressive first start - having scored on his debut 10 days ago as a substitute.

Dalglish said of his new recruit: "It's not difficult to warm to him is it? He's very energetic and skilful.

"He loves to score goals and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

"In normal circumstances maybe we would have taken him off because he's not had a game for a while.

"It probably pushed him that bit too far. We were just hoping he might get us a goal."

Liverpool were also without captain Steven Gerrard, who injured his groin in last weekend's win over Chelsea, but Dalglish said he and Agger's recovery would be short.

"Both Daniel and Steven will be days rather than weeks," said the Scot.

"Obviously we've got the Europa League on Thursday, whether they are fit for that, we'll just have to wait and see.

"We've not got a game after that until the following Thursday so we'll see how they are and go from there."

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez paid tribute to his players for fighting back to earn a point.

"If you go 1-0 down after playing well that is really difficult but I was really pleased in the first half," he said.

"We had long spells of possession but we probably didn't show that real belief that we needed to show against a team like Liverpool.

"But going into half-time with that feeling we could do a little bit better I thought the reaction was great.

"I felt we deserved the point for the roles we had to go through and the players deserve huge credit."

Yep I think we even bid for him at one point, but he decided to stay for another year at whatever Scottish club he was at.

Yeah he came down from Hamilton for a trial but I think he opted to stay there and play regular football. No idea what happened to our interest when he went to Wigan.

i think mcCarthy is a clever lad. he realises that wigan will allow him to develop his talents without any real pressure other than playing. the big move will come for him ive no doubt because he's got the tools.

i think he 's played 18 - 24 months in the premiership and thats done the boy a lot of good. if he went to liverpool at that age he would be in the reserves or on loan in the championship.

look at danny wilson, the lad was playing champions league games last season and now all he's got to look forward to is reserve team games against second rate opposition. i thin wilson will make it but theres no doubt with his ability he should be playing first team football somewhere.

mcCarthy should stay at wigan for another season at least and develop his game so that when he ends up at a big club he's going there as a proper premiership player in his own right and not just another prospect.

                                - Their goal was a mile offside.
                                - Suarez was excessively unlucky not to score with 2 off the woodwork. He's good though.
                                - Kuyt, and then Jovanovic, were really poor. I thought some intelligent play broke down baldy with either of those on the ball.
                                - Glen Johnson having no left foot was an issue on several occasions
                                - No Agger and Gerrard makes us much weaker.
                                - Our set pieces need to improve

As we were then, 4th was always going to be some ask.

Andy Carroll will also hopefully make a big difference to us in games like that.
