Marseilles claim that they will open discussions with Liverpool this week about signing Djibril Cissé. The forward has spent the season on loan in France with a view to a permanent deal and is surplus to requirements at Anfield.

Pape Diouf, the Marseilles president, is considering renewing the loan or buying Cissé at a substantially lower price than the £14 million Liverpool paid Auxerre three years ago. He has two years left on his contract. “There is room for manoeuvre between what both sides want,” Diouf said. “We will discuss things this week.”

Cissé has not ruled out returning to the Barclays Premiership with a club other than Liverpool.

So this was our final list of players loaned out, the first group are players who seem likely to go, the second group is players expected to come back:

Djibril Cisse -- Marseille (France)

After a slow start from his return from injury racked up 21 appearances (16 starts) and scored 8 goals, helping Marseille into a Champions League spot, which is thought to have been one of the conditions of a permanent move. He is expected to leave LFC this summer and a deal worth up to 8mil with Marseille has been mooted, talks are expected to open this week but Marseille will be looking for a knock down on the price or will try to take him on loan again.

Danny O'Donnell -- Crewe (league 1)

Deemed surplus to requirements at LFC and was loaned to Crewe at the start of the season and has had an excellent season by all accounts, made 25 appearances and scored 1 goal has been given permission and is expected to sign permanently for Crewe

Scott Carson -- Charlton (prem)

Had a great season for Charlton and was their player of the year, he played 38 games and conceded 60, which isn't a fair way to look at his contribution really playing behind Charlton's relegation form defence. He is unlikely to stay with relegated Charlton and has made clear that he doesn't want to come back to LFC and warm the bench, seems highly likely that he will either be sold or will go out on loan again next season.

Anthony Le Tallec -- Sochaux (France)

Loaned out again at the start of the season made 25 appearances for Sochaux (13 starts, 12 subs) and scored 4 goals. One of his goals was a late equaliser in the french cup final which Sochaux then went on to win, at the expense of fellow countryman Djibril Cisse's Marseille. It is thought Sochaux are keen to make the move permanent as they are looking to keep their current squad together, not expected to fetch a great deal in transfer fee, 1mil< has been spoken about.

Florent Sinama Pongolle -- Recreativo (Spain)

With 2 games still left to go FSP can still improve on his goal return of 11 goals in 32 appearances (9 subs). Loaned out at the start of the season he has had a fine season in Spain with Recreativo who many had tipped for relegation, they now sit in 9th place in La liga. Recre exercised their right to make FSP's move permanent in May of this year in a deal worth &#163;2.7m.

James Smith (LB) -- Ross County (Scot 1st Div)

Loaned to Ross County in January 07, info seems fairly hard to come by he made 9 appearances since January and was a mainstay in their defence until he injured his ankle in April causing a premature return to LFC.

Adam Hammill (LW/RW) -- Dunfermline (Scot Prem)

Earned rave reviews for his time at Dunfermline, unfortunately his season ended with defeat in the Scottish cup. He became a mainstay in the team making 18 appearances and scoring 1 goal since his loan in January 07, unfortunately it didn't stop Dunfermline from being relegated. Expected to either go out on loan again next season or stay and push for a place in the senior squad back at LFC, of all our loaned players it is thought that Hammill shows the most promise.

Danny Guthrie (CM) -- Southampton (Championship)

Loaned to Southampton late on in the season in March went straight into the side making 12 appearances in total helping Southampton to play offs but ending in defeat to Derby. He was only intended to stay for a month, but ended up staying on till the end of the season after Southampton expressed interest in keeping hold of him. At the time he signed Southampton needed a CB so when the fans saw a CM signing many weren’t happy, but since then he seems to have become somewhat of a fan favourite and there could be a good possibility that he will return to Southampton next season, it appears he would keep his spot in the first team if that happened, I would expect to hear news on him fairly soon.

Besian Idrizaj (FW/LW) -- Luton (Championship)

Loaned to Luton in March, he went straight into the team and made 7 appearances (3 starts, 4 subs) scoring 1 goal along the way. He failed to impress in his first 5 appearances playing no more than 45mins in any game, but his last 2 appearance saw him play a full 90 mins, scoring a goal in his penultimate game. It seems Luton expected more of him to begin with but his last two appearances impressed and put him in the running for mom awards for both games. It seems likely he will look to go out on loan again after getting a taste of regular football.

Lee Peltier (RB/RM) -- Hull (Championship)

Peltier was another player loan out by the club in March, largely due to the end of the reserves season and looking to get a few appearances in before the end of the senior season. He made an impressive 7 appearances (2 from the bench) to add to his 4 cup appearances he had already made for LFC. He helped Hull stave off relegation clearing the drop zone comfortably, and received very good reviews along the way. It seems Hull would be happy to take him on loan again next season, so depending on Rafa’s wishes he might get a full season in their first team in 07/08.


Godwin Antwi (CB) – Accrington Stanley (League 2)

Joined the exodus of outgoing players in March and spent his time at Accrington making 9 starts playing the full 90 on 7 occasions. Had a very successful stay with Accrington, becoming their first choice CB, and picking up MOM awards and making League 2 team of the week on 2 occasions. Many Accrington fans credit his signing as being the turning point that helped them stay in the league! The word from Accrington is that they think he’ll go far especially with another seasons experience under his belt, and they are very interested in taking him on loan for another season. However Rafa might want him to try his luck a bit further up the leagues, after his successful spell in league 2.

David Martin (GK) -- Accrington Stanley (League 2)

Martin joined Stanley originally in February in an emergency loan. Unfortunately he picked up an ankle injury within the first five minutes of his first game vs Lincoln on Feb 24th and subsequently returned to Liverpool for treatment. He returned to Stanley 3 weeks later as they still hadn’t solved their keeper problem and went on to make 9 appearances keeping clean sheets in 3. Stanley are keen to take him back next season along with Antwi, even though they have just signed a new keeper it seems Martin would be above him in the pecking order. As with Antwi though, Rafa might feel he wants his players tested a bit further up the leagues.
