David Fairclough v St Etienne in 1977.

That was when we realised that we could win the European Cup for the first time.

There are 3 European nights that stand out, head and shoulders above all of the others, where the atmosphere was unforgettable - 1965 v Inter Milan, 2005 v Chelsea and 1977 v St Etienne

Only 1 winner for me in this one... my hero as a kid, Ian Rush v Everton in the Cup Final 1986... the one where he smashes the camera... (second favourite is the equalier he scores).

Feel sick saying it now but Michael Owen's winner in the 2001 FA Cup Final to rob Arsenal at the time was amazing!

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I remember watching the match by myself in the living room during a family lunch, I went completely ape**** and everyone at the table just dropped stuff from their hands and spilled **** all over the place.

                        Heskey's Hattrick against Derby.

He had a run of games when Owen, Fowler and Karl Heinz where injured where he was unstoppable.

I'm sure Karl Heinz scored a cracker or too as well as Jari

Riedle must have netted for us occasionally, but my abiding memory of him was essentially as a non scoring striker.

My fave would have to be for some reason when that 4th goal from Dossena went in at OT I nearly fainted

My abiding memory of Riedle was a back head to set up Michael Owen, IIRC we were playing in the Yellow away kit.
