Indeed it's crucial that we get the manager's & CEO's positions sorted out before the summer as potential transfer targets will want to see what is happening after our coming & goings over the last couple of years. I'm sure they will want a settled atmosphere & that we are going places under the same manager.
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

      Craig Bellamy:

‘I supported Liverpool as a kid. It’s great to see Dalglish there. I love the bootroom mentality, that was Liverpool Football Club. When you support a club, you have to understand what made it so great - Shankly coming, the bootroom.
'They’d all sit in a room, and two or three of them would go on to win the European Cup! What conversations must they have had? From a shoebox, they created a club.'

Well for what it's worth this is my take on how they should appoint Kenny, because lets face it whether they should or shouldn't is no longer up for debate.

I think they are worried about a long term contract because of the huge pay off if things go wrong and they need to make a change. Kenny is worried about a short term contract because he wants time to bring the glory years back. He doesn't want to win the Premier League once, he wants to win it many times.

I'm not saying the Americans should take advantage of Kenny or that he should be underpaid but I cannot believe that he is in it for the money.

In my opinion they should come up with a deal that rewards Kenny for bringing success but does not have the huge pay off consequences if they need/want to make a change.

A 2 year deal gives the impression that they don't have confidence in Kenny or that he's just a short term crowd pleaser. It will not give him the authority to make the changes he wants.

They need to be clever with the contract so they can announce 'Kenny has been appointed for life'

It would be a huge moral booster for the fans, it will help recruit players in the summer and if they time the announcement right it could be a huge boost going into the final few games of the season as we push for 4th or 5th

Its obviously about results but for me its more than that, everytime Kenny gets interviewed I hang off his every short abrupt word...he gets it.

I dont see the point in risking it with a villa boas or the next big thing.....When Kenny has finished with us in 20 years time, high profile managers will crawl over broken glass to be given the opportunity to manage us.
          Absolutely

Agree But lets not get worked up about it either. They've only been here 6 months and they've learned a lot. I think they 'get it' but they'll obviously still make some small mistakes along the way.

Don't get me wrong he has done great since he came in and done what only he could do and unite the club and there is definitely a place for him in the set up (Director of football strategy or similar).
If Mourinho becomes available I think Henry should go all out to get him, and with Steve Clarke already there its set up for him. Give Jose the brief to put the club back on top of Europe, whatever it takes.
You cannot have Kenny and Mourinho in active footballing roles at the club. It will never work. If Mourinho came Kenny would have to leave or go back to the 'Ambassador' role.

I rate Mourinho as a Manager but he's absolutely the wrong person for Liverpool. We want to build a new legacy that can last for a long time. We want a footballing philosophy and we want to do it 'The Liverpool Way", Mourinho doesn't and won't do that, Kenny will.

If you want to spend **** loads of cash and have short term success and then regress, yes Mourinho is your man. But he won't build us a legacy.

He's also proven that he has no loyalty to any club. He's selfish and everything has to be centred around him.

I absolutely believe Mourinho could win us the Premier League, maybe more than once, but it would cost us a lot of money, he wouldn't be here for more than 3 or 4 years and when he left he wouldn't have left us with a legacy, a footballing philosophy or have done it "The Liverpool Way".

Kenny is a rare breed, it's once in a life time that you have the opportunity to capture a man like that. Liverpool is blessed that we have captured his heart and we cannot be stupid enough to break it and ourselves by not appointing him full time.

He could be our modern day Shankly and when we are old men talking to our Grandchildren we will be speaking about him in the same way as our Fathers speak to us about Shanks.

That's what I hope and what I believe.

Mourinho is one of several great Managers we could appoint but none of them will ever be able to do what Kenny can do, he can do so much more than win us trophies.

I think they should give Kenny the job on a rolling contract. If he comes top 4 then the contract gets extended by another season.

No expensive pay off for the Yanks, and a success related contract for Kenny.

That said, it's dependant on the owners. If they put up plenty of cash then they can expect a return. If they don't back us then they can't expect a top 4 finish every year.
            Forwards.......

Rolling contract or 2-year deal would be the only sensible solutions in these circumstances.

It would satisfy NESV as it would help them keep their option open if things don't work out as planned and Kenny would be given the chance to prove he's the right guy to take us where we belong and in process shape the team as he sees it fit.

DUO BACK DALGLISH FOR ANFIELD DEAL

Former Liverpool stars Ian Rush and John Barnes believe Kenny Dalglish should be offered a permanent deal at the Merseyside club after reviving the Reds' season.

The 60-year-old Scot has engineered Liverpool's rise from just outside the relegation zone to sixth place after taking over from Roy Hodgson in early January.

And Dalglish, often regarded as Liverpool's greatest ever player, has won the support of the fans, which Rush believes is key in creating success at Anfield.

"I think everyone that knows Kenny knows what he's all about. His philosophy is no one is bigger than the club and it's a privilege to play for the club," Rush said at the launch of Hyundai's new Boot Shoot iPhone application.

"One thing's for certain, the supporters love him and they want him [to get a long-term contract], the players are playing as if they respect him and they want him to get it so yeah, hopefully he will be there this time next year but Kenny will only do what is best for the club.

"I think Kenny does take one game at a time and as long as [Liverpool] keep on winning his case will strengthen."

And Barnes echoed the sentiments of his former team-mate.

"The fans love him," he said, "You can see the reaction of the players because of the reaction of the fans to Kenny.

"Then of course there is the quality he has in man management in terms of organisation and the way he wants to play.

"The euphoria of Kenny being there gives him an advantage.

Liverpool and Kenny are a match made in heaven.

"I'm not the owner but I think Kenny should be given the job in terms of what he's achieved."

And that achievement has seen Liverpool accrue 20 points from the 10 Barclays Premier League matches where Dalglish has been in temporary charge along with the signing of a potentially great new strike partnership.

Dalglish captured England centre-forward Andy Carroll in the January transfer window to partner Luis Suarez who joined the Reds from Ajax in the same month.

Rush, who forged a prolific strike partnership with Dalglish in the 1980s, believes Carroll and Suarez will develop into an equally fearsome prospect by next season.

"I think it will be [a great partnership] but it needs time to develop.

I think they need a good pre-season together, all practice games and next year I think you'll be seeing the best of them.

"They're two completely different players and they give you different options. Carroll is not 100% fit yet but I think his partnership with Suarez can only get better and better.

"I think we're looking to the future not the present, and in Carroll and Suarez Kenny is looking to the future as well."

However, Barnes was quick to warn fans not to get too carried away with Liverpool's revival unless owner John W Henry makes funds available to whoever is finally put in charge.

"Kenny's had a fantastic start but now they have to build on that," Barnes said.

"The only way to build on that is to invest in the club to get better players, a better squad, a bigger squad, because I don't want the fans all of a sudden to look at this season and think next year we're going to win the league.

"We can win the league if there's investment but if that doesn't happen and we see Manchester City threatening, Chelsea threatening, Liverpool will then maximise the full potential of the squad to finish in the top five.

"We want to push on, and for us to push on, even with Kenny, we still need more investment in the club to get better players."
"I will make the boys feel your support"

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
