Don't think it makes much sense to agree to anything but inflated buds at this point in pre-season. It seems quite possible to me that Spearing could do better for Rodgers than he did for Kenny. If we improve next season I think that the return of Lucas and some existing players fulfilling their potential is a more likely reason than a big incoming signing.

How much did we get for Guthrie a few years back? ~£2m wasn't it? Spearing's worth at least that. If someone came in with £3m+ I'd take it, less than that, despite our ridiculous number of central midfield players, would seem like bad business to me.

I don't happen to believe that he is a turd. Plenty of our bigger name players looked ordinary last season & Kenny has to put his hand up for that too. I'd give Jay till Xmas & we may get a better fee from desperate clubs then.

Yes but those players are genuinely better than Spearing who is at very best a Championship player.

John O'Shea, Fraser Campbell, Richardson and Brown are all cack and about the same level of player as Spearing IMO.

They all went for decent money, we should be looking for similar.
