For example on current form it would be difficult to leave Kuyt out of the side...

If we improve the squad as much as we are all hoping for, Kenny will have a difficult time selecting his top 11 and that can only be a good thing.

Agree on Kuyt for this year but next season with all new additions it don't think he'll be an automatic choice.

Would never sell him and nobody would buy him for 30m at this stage of his career. I would love to see him at Liverpool till the end of his career. He definitely still has a big part to play here.

Would only consider it if he came to the Club and asked to go but I can't see that happening now with Kenny in charge.

Yeah your right, I take that back, if he did want to leave I would sell him as Kenny says no player is bigger than the club but I have a strong feeling he will see his career out here.

So do I but if the owners decided to appoint another manager over Kenny ( and I don't think that will happen ) he may decide to go and in which case I'd understand his decision.

Enough of that as it ain't gonna happen

Have to disagree. Regardless of who we sign, Kuyt will be in our starting 11 on the opening game of next season.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I'm not sure he will play in specific games (such as the first game of the season) but I would imagine that he will be a player who will fight for a place and more often than not emerge the winner. In a similar manner to Carragher c1999-2002 when he was moved from centre back to right back to left back etc, I would imagine Kuyt will find a role.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Our attack will be improved to provide the proper service to Carroll and Kuyt will have to be dropped in favor of a wide player.

Let's look at possible new 11:

                  --------------Pepe------------
                  GJ------Agger------New CB------New LB
                  Lucas------- Gerrard------New CM
                  Suarez------Carroll------New wide player

To be honest, I’m not entirely comfortable with the idea of building our team around Carroll. As I mentioned in another thread, with a proper left winger and Johnson providing natural width on the right then we’ll be fine. That way Kuyt can continue to do what he does best and provide an extra body in the box for Carroll’s knock downs.
                    A forward line of…

                    _______Carroll

                    LW____Suarez_______Kuyt

would be excellent, although I'm not sure who would play CM.

We wouldn't spend 35m on the player that requires lot of support to get the best out of him and then fail to surround him with the players he needs to produce. We tried to do that right away in January with going after Young and Adam and if, according to Comolli, we will most likely being be going back for them, both (if it is not them it will be someone else) will be starters, which would push Kuyt on the bench.

I just cannot see him in first 11 if we get a wide player and new CM and I think we will.

Time will tell I guess. Currently Kuyt and Suarez are better players IMO, and dropping Kuyt and negating Suarez influence by forcing him out wide to accommodate Carroll does not seem like a good long-term plan to me.

This would work well IMO. With Johnson providing width on the right and given his current form, Dirk remains a starter.

                            That's true.

It's not just as simple as getting in a winger and then all of a sudden our worries are over in terms of providing service for Carroll. It'll take much more than that.
When you look at our full backs, apart from Aurelio who's constantly injured, we don't have a good crosser of the ball in that department.

                            - Johnson rarely delivers a killer ball. Kelly who i'm a big fan of needs work on his crossing - both players are strong runners and get forward but they're reluctant to fire in a cross.
Flanagan and Robinson are great prospects but you wouldn't think either will be starting regularly for us next season.

Then there's Gerrard and Meireles, both have been very poor when it's come to set piece delivery.
They need to take some responsibility as well - unless they're taken off set piece duty next season.

Absolutely. We need as much support for Carroll as we can get and in addition to a wide player and playmaker type of CM we definitely need a LB that can deliver good crosses.

Agree with your assessment of GJ and Kelly in terms of their crossing skills but I think Enrique and/or Baines would be a good shout (Coentrao would be ideal but I don't we'll spend 20m+) to do the job on the left side.

I can see Kuyt/Suarez on the right of the pitch and LW/Carroll on the left. Of course there will be some switching sides but I don't think Kuyt will go at all. He's undroppable at the moment.
