Jay isn't good enough and gets more praise because he is a scouser.

I really, completely disagree with this. I mean do you honestly think that the people here judge him on that? I'd say that's the last thing that people think of.

Jay gets praise because he is a trier, he gives everything and is totally committed. And he can play a bit, may not set the world alight but he is a decent squad player IMO.

He gets praise no matter how he players. Even if he is very poor he gets a lot of praise. It has been like this with him for 4 seasons. Too me it seems like people are just so desperate for him succeed. Just look at the Fulham game, there were people going on about how we won't miss Lucas and how great he was despite constantly letting their players have space around our box.

I think the comparisons to Lucas are a long way off the mark too.

I don't think Spearing offers enough to be a worthwhile player for us, we need a back up who can do more than Spearing can and can happily come in a play along side Lucas and Spearing lacks the quality to real do that.

He's okay as fifth or six choice CM if he's happy with that.

Never good enough to start week in, week out but I'd rather have him come into the team than Poulsen like last year.

Obviously he's nowhere near as good as Lucas in the holding role but he hasn't let himself down yet. Apart from that one mistake a few weeks back - can't remember who against now.

I'm not making stuff up Chris, look at the Fulham game were he was poor before he got sent off and allowed them plenty of space in front of our back four. Look at so many of the older threads about him.

Mainly because he was crap against Everton. If that is good enough for you it'd explain why being 7th and an awful league campaign is good enough.

Hes only really been a starter for the first team for the last 18 months. So I dont see how you got that.

There is, I use it with our team because we a have a disappointing lack of quality, and I am not going to pretend I rate a player when I think he is a long way of the standard we need.
