Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I really like Kenny and think he has done a good job so far.

The Mourinho comparison seems odd as he has never taken on a club in anything other than a position of great strength - what makes anyone think he would be any good at turning a club round without the highest budget around?

I am beginning to wonder whether I would prefer Rafa back to Kenny though. In the end I would be happier to see either of those two than any other manager at the helm come the summer.

You really believe that ? even now, knowing what went on behind the scenes, the type of people he had to work with, always out to undermine him, the man deserves a ****in medal for working so long under those ****ers!

But I don't believe Henry will exempt Rafa from any blame whatsoever. These kind of comments make the return of Rafa pretty much zero imo.

Partly I agree because Henry will probably never know the full story and get the full picture. No one know how much **** Purslow told them for example.

Hours away from administration and £100m+ paid in interest forced us to sell player after player not replacing them.

If you look at the payroll bit that he mentions then he could very well mean players like Cole, Carragher, Konchesky and Poulsen.

Not sure we have enough information to make those links. I very much doubt they think Rafa was perfect but a lot depends on who negotiated what in the contracts surely. I doubt that they have any great problems with the Rafa era contracts of the likes of Reina, Kuyt and Lucas.

The contracts of Cole, Jovanovic, Degen, Jones, etc. along with that recently handed to Carragher and Aurelio seem more likely to be a problem. MOst of those we know to be negotiated by Purslow. The two real issues which Rafa might be involved in are Jovanovic and Degen. I think the former probably has resale value, the latter given his injury record was a **** up. That said we still don't know who did the contract negotiations.

In fairness though most people knew they were gambles mitigated by the lack of transfer funds. If we'd had any reasonable (net) transfer budget I very much doubt we'd have signed either. They were gambles by Rafa that didn't work out.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I agree, however, the size of the contract impacts the appropriateness of the gamble. It is really difficult, from outside at least, to make judgements of the financial issues in such cases.

                      Also Jovanovic.

This summer gone was probably the worst since the summer of Diouf. There was a massive outlay on pure ****, I'd expect the figure would be in excess of £50m, what a ****ing waste.

The longer this drags on, the more i'm thinking Kenny isn't the man for NESV.

Some sites and media imagines up their own headlines, blaming Rafa and not Roy and Purslow. Rafa built short term, expensive, long term deals to squad players etc.

                          Really laughable.

If it is one thing Rafa didn't do then it was building short term. He built it so much long term that short term almost didn't exist. If a player wasn't good enough then he was sold and replaced by a player worth more money.

Building up the value of the squad. That worked excellent until key players had to be sold and not replaced with less expensive players so we could pay the massive interest.

In position after position we replaced quantity with quality.

I thought Jovanovic was a freebee .. I think Rafa brough him in as emergency cover also knowing how the previous owners were down grading the squad..

I am not convinced if Kenny is right either although I would be happy to see how next season pans out under his guidence and with a few new faces etc. I was a Rafa supporter and still am I guess, I would like to see him back at the club with proper backing and decent owners. I am sure he would take us back to the top. While we are on Rafa .. didnt Henry have a meeting with Rafa some time back?

Reading that article, doesn't sound likely Rafa will be getting a sniff of coming back certainly for a while.

Jova may have been a free transfer but he will cost the club around £15m during the course of his contract. Cole will cost £20m+, its ridiculous.

Henry may well have met Rafa, just to understand what the **** was going on and how we ended up with such a **** squad.
