No, he's just not playing well and would be up against brutes like De Jong and Y.Toure which will expose his fragile state.

And you think play Spearing would be a good alleviation to that! Spearing will get destroyed there. That would be a terrible team to play, we'd get slaughtered.

If Aurelio is fit play him, drop Spearing, play Meireles and use a 4231 with Kuyt and Maxi wide and Suarez off Carroll. You can have the 3 behind switch position easily too.

No, Aurelio at lb, Lucas and Meireles in mid. Don't want to have to play Wilson.

Meireles as one of 2 centre midfielders against De-Jong and Yaya Toure is asking for trouble imo.

Less so than playing Spearing there.

LIVERPOOL PREPARE TO CELEBRATE PREMIERSHIP SAFETY!

King Kenny’s revolution enters a crucial stage this Monday with Liverpool aiming to take that crucial step closer to Premier League safety.
A win over Manchester City will put Liverpool on 48 points tantalisingly close to that magic mark of 51 points that will make it mathematically impossible for the Anfield outfit to be relegated.

Rumours of an open top bus parade featuring the entire first team as well as X-Factor runner-up Rebecca Ferguson have yet to be confirmed.
A source close to the club, probably stood outside Anfield waiting for Sky Sports to turn up said: “Obviously we’re delighted to be only six points from safety in April, it’s a fantastic achievement for everyone associated with the club and harks back to the glory days of the Evans/Houllier partnership.

“Much gratitude for the success of the season must go to Roy Hodgson who laid down the foundations for a triumphant campaign not to mention long-term prosperity with the signings of Christian Poulsen, Joe Cole and Paul Konchesky. “

Continuity at Anfield has often been the key to success over the years and Hodgson deserves credit for continuing the transfer policy that Rafa Benitez implemented during his final two years of buying players no one else wanted or considered good enough for a title challenge.

One of the more puzzling aspects of Liverpool’s season has been the lack of PFA nominations in either category. JonJo Shelvey was apparently omitted from the young PFA reckoning due to fellow professionals being unwilling to have to look at him during the awards ceremony as he scares their wives.
The real shock for many at Anfield when it comes to nominations is how David Ngog and Sotirios Kyrgiakos have failed to be recognised for their sterling efforts during the campaign.

Although some pundits predicted Liverpool would be challenging for honours this season, it isn’t all doom and gloom at Anfield. The 3-1 win over United was a particular highlight spoiled only by the fact it now seems evident that it’s done nothing to stop Sir Alex Ferguson’s men on their quest for that 19th title. Other than the win over United, the season also included a glorious Europa League run which included hard fought nil nil draws against the mighty Braga and FC Utrecht.

With Premiership survival practically a foregone conclusion it looks as though King Kenny can build on his superb efforts this year which have seen him win seven out of 16 games. The £35 million invested in Andy Carroll already looks like the bargain of the season with the lanky forward having a great record of two bookings in just four starts.

If Carroll can add diving and play acting to his arsenal then he may be the long term replacement for Fernando Torres everyone at the club his hoping for.

A DVD of the 3-1 win over United is available from the Liverpool megastore under the title 2010/11 Season “All the Best Bits.”
