Nobody 'knows' for sure, but obviously you decide who you want as a manager based on an educated idea of how well you think he'd do - we didnt want Hodgson gone and Kenny brought in as a result of a lucky dip we drew

FSG needed Bodge to dig a suitably large hole before pushing him into it.

Between them coming in and Hodgson being ditched, we played 13 PL games, in which we dropped 20 points. Now i'm not saying Kenny would've won all the games in that period, but considering some of those 20 points dropped went courtesy of defeats at home to Wolves, away at Blackburn, Stoke, Everton and Newcastle, plus drawing at lowly Wigan, i think it's fair to say that bringing Kenny in immediately would've had us in the top 4 right now.

And they were new owners, they hadnt appointed Hodgson so that was the perfect easy excuse to sack him.

I'm not saying we should dwell on it, but they made a poor decision in sticking with Hodgson for so long and had they done better with that decision, we'd be playing CL football next year.

Was it 13 games? It doesn't seem that many now.

I can't argue with the figures you've presented me with here, but hindsight is a great gift. There was no guarantee that Kenny was going to have such an impact, in fact many here were fearful of him taking charge as they thought he was out of the game too long.

As I said to DannyMan - I agree that Hodgson should have been sacked sooner, but I can understand, to an extent, why they delayed the decision

I think it took plumetting to the depths of the table to realise the predicament we were in and to unite the support behind Kenny

Kenny coming in earlier would not have been as "universally accepted" as only truefan99 and Man U fans thoughts he'd be a disaster

But in fairness, if they had got Kenny in sooner and he had got us 4th, I can't see why they would have needed to change. Kenny said from the word go, if I don't do well and Liverpool can find someone better, I'll be happy to stand aside.

Personally, I'm in two minds myself. He's done a great job on some fronts, but we still have problems away from home but I guess you can only work with what he's got. I think Kenny likes to play with wide men, he always has, so must be frustrating to be at the club when we have little to no width.

The biggest thing for me though is his age, I'd love a top coach to come in and build a dynasty. But if Kenny stays I'll also be happy, so it's win win.

If they just pretend Kenny is about 40 (well he bloody looks it) then he ticks all their boxes.

The blame can be layed at the door of many a person mate, mistake after mistake is why we are where we are, or were, should I say.

I just think FSG should have gambled sooner and I said it at the time, just like as Arn points out, many others did. But that's the past and there's nothing we can do to change things.

I always said I would judge FSG on who we start with come Septmber 1st 2011 and I'll not be changing my mind on that. Who they get as manager and who they sign as players will dictate how far we have come.

I agree with you completely - I was crying out for Hodgson to get the flick. I can see where FSG were coming from though and why they took their time about it.

I think that in the long run they're going to prove to be very good owners.
