I understand where you are coming from, but IMO Gerrard simply has to adapt to this new style, and stay away from centre midfield, he disrupts the short passing there, he needs to stay wider or more advanced. But he is top player and he can adjust.Originally posted by Arn View PostI don't doubt him but who should he replace in a 4-4-2? Lucas is a must. If we sign a central midfield playmaker then no place for Gerrard in the middle. If we sign a very good wide player then no place for Gerrard as a wide player.
The only way he would get a place would be if we played 4-3-3. In a 4-4-2 with a couple of good signings then there is no place for Gerrard.
No player should get an place just because of their name.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

They were, in their drovesOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostBut you are putting anonymous signings in the team ahead of Gerrard for their names? He is the captain of the club, one of our best ever players and will find a place in the team. He is only 30 FFS, do you think Man Utd supporters were writing of Ryan Giggs like this 7 years ago...

it's ****ing great - it's great to be a liverpool fan again - i don't give a **** about not winning a trophy this year or finishing 6th (or better if we can) and i don't care about the mancs
it's just nice to be happy again, to see the players smiling, to look forward to hearing the manager speak and then hanging on his every word, to not have fan divides and boycotts and marches going, to not have stories coming out that we're losing £xxxxxx'sss down the drain, to not have rumours of star players wanting to jump ship because their missus has sand in her fanny, -
We have owners who so far appear to understand the club, their not man city rich, but their not cunts, their humble, quiet, not brash and seem committed into turning us into winners
We have a top manager - a ****ing legend who everyone loves
We have a ****ing fantastic coach in Steve Clarke, a magnificent appointment
We have some top players - reina, gerrard, suarez
We have some great players who are legends or on their way to becoming legends - carragher, kuyt
we have a pool of players improving and growing with confidence every game - lucas, johnson, skrtel, maxi, meireles
We have some ****ing superb talent coming through - carroll, kelly, wilson, spearing, flannagan, robinson, shelvey
We have, beyond them, some rising stars, Suso, Sterling etc
And to finish it off....we have a future
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

It's weird because I know we'll strengthen and bring in top players (the list of very possibles could have M'Villa, Mata and Clichy and the dare to dream list has the likes of Hazard and Aguero on) but in bringing in top class depth to the squad we're almost demoting some of the players who've played so fantastically over the past couple of months. I couldn't even see how we could rework Gerrard and Carroll back into the starting line up never mind a further 3-4 top class players.
Rotation, Rotation, Rotation! I defy anyone to get our team selections right 3 games in a row with next season's squad
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

We just need a world class stadium and a managerial understudy (Carra, Gerrard, Sami?) and we're set!Originally posted by PTP View PostWe have a top manager - a ****ing legend who everyone loves

Look at the effect Kenny has had on the players in our team. Lucas, Meireles, MAXI(!!), Spearing... all playing out of their skin. Raised their game 15-20%Originally posted by Arn View PostI really don't understand why Gerrard should be in the starting XI next season. He is a good player but if we sign another central midfielder and a wide player then Gerrard simply will be on the bench.
The only way he would take a place in the starting XI would be if we played with three central midfielders.
Should we change the system and formation just to fit in Gerrard? That is what must happen if you want him in the team. He won't be in the starting XI if we continue to play 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1.
This is not an anti Gerrard post. Everyone have seen for themselves that Gerrard isn't a key player now. He is a good option to have but not a must.
Very much depends on if he can get fit again and stay fit. Very much also depends on if he can up his game. If he can't then he should be on the bench and fight for a place.
4-3-3 with Gerrard or 4-4-2 without him?
What makes you think that Gerrard wouldn't do the same? When it comes to sheer ability, Gerrard is the most talented player in our team (arguably the league). He would ****ing love to be playing in this team right now. He would have so much more space than he is used to, and would have so many more options to hit and link up with.
People are talking about the Suarez / Caroll partnership, but in my opinion, the Gerrard / Suarez partnership could be absolutely incredible. Gerrard, Suarez, Caroll, and a world class winger in the same team and we would cause anyone in the world problems.
Dalglish rates Gerrard as our best ever player. On top of that, he's our captain. He will WALK back into the first team when he's fit. And rightly so. The guy is immense. I predict he will be back to his best next season. Just hope he can put these injury problems behind him.K ris90210

You've come up with some absolute ****ing whoppers in all the years we've posted on the same boards, but this has got to be up thereOriginally posted by Arn View PostI really don't understand why Gerrard should be in the starting XI next season. Un****ingbelievable. Seriously, what on earth has the man done to you when you are seemingly the only person on the planet that doesn't rate him?I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

I'm sure he'd want to, aye, but he wouldn't get a look in at this present time, FACT.Originally posted by ashey View PostGerrard was buzzing in the Sky Studio last night. Looked like he was gagging to play in that team.
A lot of posters have Gerrard automatically in the team for next season, which is fair enough, their opinion, but i don't know how any player could walk straight back into that team with the form their on at the moment.
Yet when Arn questions his inclusion and gives his reasons for doing so, he's asked to stop the so-called Anti-Gerrard business.
The preferential treatment seems to be allowed, but when someone has the audacity to say maybe Gerrard shouldn't be an automatic pick next season, it gets shot down in flames. Funny that.Last edited by Rudo; 10-05-11, 12:11 PM.

Come on man, Arn's got his opinion and rightly so right or wrong but there was no need to come up with this last night. The question will pose itself when Stevie is fit and I would bet anything to say for certain that he'll be straight back in because he's still fantastic. You reckon Kenny would be wrong to put him straight in and you'd rather have Spearing or Meireles ahead of him?Originally posted by Rudo View PostI'm sure he'd want to, aye, but he wouldn't get a look in at this present time, FACT.
