I think what both Henry and Barrett said are both correct. I'm sure Suarez did have a release clause but the wording of it was poor enough for us to bluff our way out of it. Suarez and his agent both accepted that and its water under the bridge now.

Surely by leaking the value to Arsenal they broke the contract first? In which case Henry had every right to stand his ground.

Don't know what the Arsenal fans are so irate about. On Redcafe the majority of the Arse fans didn't want a racist, biting, trouble maker. Certainly not for more than £25m-£30m.

Had they bid £50m-£60m we would have sold, he was toxic for us in the summer. They were more concerned with financial loopholes than all out plundering which was their own downfall. And the fans were complicit in that.

Last summer was a great example of how player power and tapping up should be managed.

If only Arsenal could do the same thing, instead of rolling over for any team who offers £25m for key players, then they would probably have the firepower to sustain their challenge this season.

It would be interesing to see how Henry would have managed the Torres piece after having the experience of last summer.
