Firstly the talk of a domestic ban is only coming from the English press and fans of rival clubs. They couldn't give a **** about some ban from internationals because it doesn't benefit their agenda. I looked for where FIFA applied domestic and international ban and I could only find a Portugese lad who assaulted a referee. All others were for match-fixing. Zidane head-butted someone in the World Cup Final and got a three-match ban. FIFA will give him a four-match ban and there will be sanctimonious uproar in Britain.

All this crap about the damage to our club is ridiculous. Standing by a problem child and helping him is good PR. Why ship out a problem to some other club? It's his issue, his sponsorship that's the issue. All these idiots saying "how do I explain it to my kids", "people are turning away from football".... Football is a business, and people will be tuning in to watch Suarez even more. Not condoning it in the slightest, but the overreaction is purely fueled by anti-Liverpool sentiment and Italians pissed at getting knocked out. He's a disgrace to himself, he has to deal with it, the club's integrity is fine.

Agree with this. He's an anti-hero to me and a villain to others, and it's always must see with Luis. I grew up watching the 1980's Detroit Pistons (my hometown team) and they were treated exactly the same way as Luis is now: absolutely reviled by everyone. We had Dennis Rodman and Bill Lambeer, who just drove people INSANE. As fans, we loved it and defended them to the hilt and they delivered two NBA Titles playing nasty. Maybe I'm just conditioned to enjoy it a little?

He'll be punished, Uruguay will appeal, it will be denied, Uruguay get knocked out by Colombia, everyone blames Suarez, then the world remembers there is some football to watch and it largely goes away throughout the world apart from in this country where it is mentioned every single time.

I didn't say he was getting a criminal record. I was drawing a comparison to an event that might happen in someone's life and pointing out the idiocy of espousing your 'what happens in Brazil stays in Brazil' opinion, whereby we can pretend it didn't happen because he didn't commit the offence at Anfield while wearing a Liverpool shirt and singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.

Surely you can comprehend that behaving like an utter dick in your own time, in a manner that leads to you being publicly reprimanded or punished, is still of relevance to your employer and therefore they have a right to consider their reaction to it?

No I can't because the two are completely different things. But OK, lets pretend they are similar. If I punched someone and got arrested whilst on holiday in Spain I would not expect my employer to be told and if they were I wouldn't expect my employer to care.

FIFA can confirm that disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the player Luis Suarez of Uruguay following an apparent breach of art. 48 and/or art. 57 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code during the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ match Italy-Uruguay played on 24 June 2014. The player and/or the Uruguayan FA are invited to provide with their position and any documentary evidence they deem relevant until 25 June 2014, 5pm, Brasilia time.

According to art. 77 lit. a of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC), the FIFA Disciplinary Committee is responsible for sanctioning serious infringements which have escaped the match officials’ attention. Furthermore, according to art. 96 of the FDC, any type of proof may be produced (par. 1), in particular are admissible, reports from referees, declarations from the parties and witnesses, material evidence, audio or video recordings (par. 3).
