Such is the case in financial industries as JP says. Similar in education too.

So, I agree; FIFA should punish him and it should be an international ban for violent conduct on par with what he's done. The rest feels like absolute hysteria or intellectually dishonest journalists who love other English clubs winding everyone up to sell papers and feign outrage when, had THEIR own players done something egregious, they would be making their own excuses. I'm not making excuses for him. If we sell him, fine-- get proper value and invest it in the team. But the hysteria is laughable.

There's sticking up for your players, and there's being blindly partisan to the extent that you end up looking ridiculous. If he is found guilty by the FIFA panel, then will you accept the decision, or continue to rail against it?

Secondly, the widely used argument about a bite being less serious than a deliberate foul, elbow, headbutt, eye gouge, punch or being shot in the face is missing the point entirely. This isn't a totting up system likes points on a driving licence. All of those kinds of actions are unacceptable anywhere, including on a football pitch, and debating which is more or less unacceptable is entirely without merit. The "I'd rather be bitten than elbowed" argument is daft. Given the choice I'd rather not suffer any of those, and anyone dishing out any of that behaviour deserves to be punished.
One thing's for certain, if it was a player at another club most on here would be shaking their heads and talking about classless clubs. Never happens when it's one of your own apparently.

OK, so there are regulatory reasons in some industries. But not all.

Does a conviction for assault prevent you from being a practising accountant then?
          Oh I don't know.

Depends who you're working for. For one of the big ones you're probably out on your ear.

Unless you're a partner or big biller of course in which case they'd find a way to keep you as a "last chance" which does have some interesting parallels with Luis...

James, for me it's not the fact he's innocent - the stupid **** obviously isn't - it's the whole nationalistic jingoism (bordering on racism) about the disgusting foreigner biting & when ex-footballer thug ****wits like Savage & Mills in the media Harp on about him being locked up ffs

& also are the punishments dished out really equal to the crime?! 3 game ban for an over the top potentially career ending tackle & 10 for a nip on the shoulder? I know there's previous etc but still I find it ludicrous

I wish I could be more eloquent but after a bottle of Rioja that's the best you'll get!
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

Pretty much everyone on here has criticised him for it, been plenty of insults "****ing lunatic" "cunt" etc "Enough is enough, I'd sell" etc. What else do you expect?

Can do. It's a profession and is regulated by one of the Institutes, and part of the expectation is that you are able to represent that organisation and your profession appropriately. As with all things the circumstances will be taken into consideration, but given that you can have your membership taken away for bankruptcy or even an undisclosed CVA or IVA, assault would definitely be a problem.

                          6 matches?

Will be interesting to see the outrage that it isn't two years

There's also been a lot of making excuses, claiming it's a Twitter / Photoshop conspiracy, saying that biting someone is nothing much, or saying that they don't care because he wasn't playing for us in that match. I'm just saying that if it was the other way around I doubt that anyone would be looking for excuses or playing it down.

One of our fund managers got forced to resign for nondisclosure of a CCJ for a loan that her alcoholic ex husband had taken out in her name that she hadnt been aware of. We were taken over & it was used against her- 23 years service & marched off the premises within a few hours.
