If you look at what Shakthar said about us then selling one of their key players to a club that hadn't qualified for the CL four seasons in a row wasn't an option.
Selling to Dortmund that played in the final of the CL was ok. No prestige lost.Stop the cyberhate

Back to strong management by LfC. We are under no obligation to sell and should advise him (Guardiola) that whilst we hear his grievance with the PL/media and his desire to play in CL it is the club's view that he should bow out after another season with Liverpool in which we believe he would be part of a team capable of a realistic challenge for CL qualification and at the same time have an incident free season and possibly bow out on better terms with the PL/media.
Much depends on BR selling a top four finish, it seems strange that things (reports) appear to have moved from his disgruntlement with the media to CL football since Micky Ryan went elsewhere?
Edit: Not quite using in Bow out terms

It doesn't really seem a coincidence that this has happened since an English team with CL football made a bid for him.Back to strong management by LfC. Still think we are in the box seat on this
3 years to run on contract, WC year, Let's face it there ain't no one out there like him as a player so stupid bids can easily be dismissed and justifiably so.
Stay firm and in control and If we have to, sell at our price and timescale.Comment

A few of us said before last season that if we didn't qualify for the CL then Suarez would leave.
Marquee signings always helps of course because it send out a signal that you mean business and not just talk talk talk.Stop the cyberhate

I think he's about as nailed on to leave as any player ever has been, his agent will have been in touch with every big club about to see where they stand and he continues to talk.
We've definitely held an interest in Benteke but if he moves on before Suarez is sold we might have to look to other options, he must have been our 'go to' player.Vive la FranceComment

City had a lot of money, still have of course, but they had big problems to get the marquee players believing in their project a few years ago.
They turned them down the first couple of years. Then they signed Yaya and Tevez. That sent out the signal that marquee players believed in the City project.
They won a lot prestige thanks to those two signings. Signing Toure from Barcelona and Tevez from United.
It of course cost a lot of wages to convince them.
We need to make a marquee signing to send out the same signal. To show the world that the marquee players believe in our project.Stop the cyberhate

Both players were on in excess of £200,000 per week, way above what we can afford, we're trimming the wage bill. What message would that send? "hey come and play for us, our owners aren't loaded but we don't give a **** lets just get knee deep in debt"City had a lot of money, still have of course, but they had big problems to get the marquee players believing in their project a few years ago.

As already been mentioned. Catch 22.
We must make marquee signings but not paying OTT in wages and can't offer CL football.Stop the cyberhate

Granted it was an observation and thought that passed many a mind but given the manner of his finish to the season (ban) LfC should be insisting that he owes us another season and that we believe CL qualification is possible.
If we fall short again I don't think many would begrudge him a move and I doubt his value would have dropped. He's guaranteed WC football barring injury/incident so in truth we are only talking European football..... You could even argue he'd have less games in a WC year and so less chance of injury???
With or without Suarez I would imagine expectations for 2013/14 season will be CL qualification. BR will be looking for progress no matter what.
Do you think expectations would be any less with or without Suarez?Comment
Or maybe the Times are just spouting ****e.
