My own feeling is Rodgers has poured a load of petrol and what was a small fire. Why could he not have just said "I'm here to talk about Norwich, I've no comment to make on that"? Or words to that effect. It's not that big a deal, but he's ensured it'll be all over the back pages tomorrow. It's now a big story whether we like it or not.
Look at the headline on the BBC: "RODGERS ANGER AT SUAREZ DIVING"
FFS.
Ferguson and other top managers would've swerved that. Ferguson wasn't even drawn into criticising Cantona for what he did to that Palace fan. If he gives a "no comment" there's no story, and yesterday's lame back pages are history.
This will blow over quickly too, and I very much doubt Rodgers will actually discipline him. I reckon he's probably said it in a bid to appear to be dealing with "the problem", but IMO it's misguided. He's just blown it all up unnecessarily I reckon.Thanks very much for beingComment

I'd agree with this, it's as though he has a personality disorder (not meaning to sound harsh), it's almost Hodgson level verbal diarrhoea. Rodgers has our interests at heart though so it's a bit different to that whopper, although he does need to reign it in. Same with Ayre in certain respects.
However I'm confident that he'll prove himself as our manager - and when the results come consistently, there will be less bull**** to talk about anyway.Hello mert.Comment

No need for these comments (from either Suarez or Rogers) but its Rogers I'm most cheesed off at. No need to add fuel to the fire as well. If someone offers a profit on our outlay this summer, he'll be off.SakhoPotatoesComment

Of course you thought it might be a possible reason. That is why you refused to rule it out. You even replied saying if I wanted to think everything was rosy and the fact he signed a new contract indicates Rodgers wants to keep him that was upto me.

Ferguson operates on a different set of rules with the media than we do. He gets away with a load of hypocrisy. You never see it in the papers, but now you see the odd comment on twitter. Guaranteed if Rodgers had 'no commented' the papers would be calling us for condoning cheating. It's the way it works.
Rodgers backed him week after week when he was getting stick for being a diver. Suarez then goes and admits to diving. Suarez brought this problem on. Nobody else. Such a blatant comment, having been defending him he made Rodgers look a tit. He had to say it is not acceptable. In private he has probably told Suarez its no biggy. Not sure why Rodgers is getting the stick. Been put in a very difficult positionComment

I completely get where you're coming from, but I don't agree. I don't think - and none of us can know - Rodgers would've got any flak had he swerved it. And I feel almost certain that if he did get some flak, the media ****storm (because as much as we know it's all bollocks, there *is* one, and it'll be back pages tomorrow) would not be anything like the one his 'public rebuke' has caused.Thanks very much for beingComment

I don't get how Rodgers is supposed to have inflamed things? The Suarez/cheat thing has been raging all season, and judging by this mornings headlines it was hardly going away.
Surely Suarez is the one who's poured petrol on the fire by needlessly bringing up the Stoke incident again. I think its crazy that in the one interview he manages to completely nail how the British press operate with regards to him and then at the same time throws them another massive stick to beat him with!
I'm not sure how Rodgers could have handled it any better either. If he had ducked the questions completely then the next move from the media would have been to flame him/LFC for refusing to publicly show remorse or disapproval of cheating. If anything he's actually prevented another potential fire, not added to an existing one..

Hmm, I just can't imagine that the media would just let it go like that, why would they when they've been at it all season?
It's not like they're averse to turning on Liverpool managers for not appeasing them.
In any case, all Rodgers has done here is make it clear that the club doesn't advocate diving (how could any manager not do so when a player admits to it?) and say that the matter will be dealt with internally. He's by no means hung Suarez out to dry..
