Remember this? Englishman Ashley Cole acts disgracefully so a few days later they "make an example of" foreign Liverpool player Javier Mascherano.
Then the entire Respect 'campaign' is mysteriously forgotten about.

That was the most ridiculous thing ever. Remember it so clearly and Mascherano did nothing wrong until the red card was stupidly brandished. After that he lost his rag - which to an extent was understandable.Comment

I hate Ferguson, the Premier League and the FA will be a much better place without his sphere of influence but there is just no comparison between absuing an official post match and getting fined a book token and what Suarez has done
Suarez was warned for the first offence, his card has been marked and they've hammered him this time
Barton got off lightly imo but again this only goes to highlight how arbitrary the punishments are. Without clear guidelines you will have hugely inconsistent punishmentsBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Yeah on the one hand you're right. Never been in a disciplinary so not sure on the in's and out's. I'd compare this more to a tribunal thoughComment

It's not quite the same. The FA is not Suárez's employer..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.Comment

Yeah. He's being punished by an outside party. At any tribunal you'd be able to take legal representation. I'm not 100% but I think the FA prohibit it. Or did I read that Evra took some hotshot with him and we turned up with some amateurComment

I didn't say there was but you can't arbitrarily decide to start increasing bans for repeat offences just because an offence is deemed by someone as more severe than others. The principle has to remain the same, surely, regardless of the offence. You either increase punishments exponentially for repeat offences or you don't - and this FA appear to have never done so in the past. Thanks very much for beingComment

They're a law unto themselves. It's really horrible.
