Imagine what would have happened if Suarez had tweeted #BUNCHOF****S? The FA, the media and Alex Ferguson are determined to try to push him out of English football and it's easy to see why. He's a bit of a cunt, but he's our cunt. Although Suarez's form understandably dipped after the Evra bull**** he does seem very resilient, he seems to thrive on the hatred. Perhaps we should be hoping for it to continue?

Suarez, though, is currently away on international duty and has shrugged off the debate which continues to rage in England, with his attention locked on upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

"Everyone should focus on their own team," he told Ovacion.

"Those who want to talk can do so, I am not worried about what they say.

"They can keep talking and in the meantime I will keep on playing football and taking care of my team and what I do. Nothing else matters."

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I don't like diving but I think the whole outrage at it is over the top, there are worse things they should crack down on or express their outrage at. For example stamping on people, or the cynical fouls which see some one taken out before they get into dangerous positions, these are less dangerous in the former case, and the latter case is cheating as much as diving, but that's accepted as part of the game.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I agree. But then I said the same when people were saying spitting was worse than decking someone.

I am sure that will be the number one priority, As soon as Suarez does it.

If Suarez isn't arsed then I've decided that I'm not arsed either.

Not that its an excuse either, but I thought he was being kicked all over the place by Stoke's thugs... sorry, defenders yesterday. One doesn't justify the other of course, but is diving really any worse an offence in the game than deliberate, premeditated fouling is?
I think the fuss about diving is clearly ludicrously overblown. Still would rather it was minimized and, given that it is so much of an issue, it would be sensible for Suarez to stop diving as it isn't doing him or us any favours.

On a vaguely related note - why is pretending not to have fouled someone not a bookable offence?* Surely that is ever bit as much a/ trying to gain and advantage and b/ harmful to the game.

                                * I'm not an idiot and can see the practical problems but in terms of the current ridiculous debate I think there is a serious point here. Some forms of lying/gaming the system are allowed some seen as a massive issue and it is all, at the end of the day, an arbitrary choice which is which (unlike physical fouling where there is a clear element of protecting players from harm)
