That is true. Kenny knew approx mid January that Torres wanted out.

That is why we kept the Torres sale top secret, until the last day of the deadline as the owners had a bad feeling that PSV were going to start to play silly begger's over the £22m already agreed for Suarez. If PSV knew that we had £50m burning a hole in our pocket they would have started messing around trying to rinse as much money as possible as during negotiations we acted skint.

He had the ambition and drive to move to Holland when he was very young, he then 'forced' Groningen into selling him to Ajax. He spent 3.5 seasons in Amsterdam before we came calling. OK he left on good terms but perhaps it was because Ajax realised they couldn't stand in his way and were happy with the £22m fee.

I don't think he actively wants to leave at the moment, however I'm positive he will move in the next 18 months to a club he sees as bigger than LFC. If the interest is there, which on current form seems likely.

We would have to make some miraculous progression i order to keep him after this summer IMO.

Right that makes perfect sense doesn't it? Sell him on the fina day of the window and leave yourself about 12 hours to panic buy his replacement. Or maybe that was the plan all along?

Let me put it another way for you. We wouldn't have been able to sign Suarez & Carroll, had we not been aware that we had the £50m coming in for Torres.
Negotiations to sign Suarez started before Torres threw in his transfer request and imo we would've signed him anyways but Carroll would have never become Liverpool player if Torres didn't leave.

We might not have been in control of the timing but I don't believe there wasn't a appetite within the club to sell Torres. Maybe the right offer didn't come in earlier...

I firmly believe there was no desire or willingness to sell Torres until he let his intentions known that he wanted to leave. From that point on, he was out the door. What remains in question is whether he wanted to retract the transfer request and the club refused (rumours of Torres crying after a showdown with Dalglish), or whether he was fully driven on leaving.

I don't think there is any desire or willingness to sell Suarez either. If there is, we don't have any ambition.

if the torres sale was never going to happen (until the last min)

how or why did Martin Broughton blab it to someone months before?

i think that they may have wanted Suarez to play with Torres and maybe even be a sign of intent to keep him but i do think it was done with one eye on the fact he may be leaving.

Torres has been unhappy for a long time so I think it was always on our minds that he may jump ships but I don't think either that we initiated that process whatsoever.

In my mind, we didn't want to sell him, but we knew he was unhappy, hence the nickname 'El Sulk'.

After the **** other clubs supporters have given him i doubt very much that Luis will play for another english team. If anything he will leave us for spain.
