Now there is no doubt his words are being..not twisted, (edit: well tbh they are by some in the media) but certain quotes are making the headline, and that's all some people ever see or hear, but there is also no doubt imo, that he wants to join a club doing better than lfc, and better placed that lfc to progress in a shorter space of time.

But again, it's context. Do we have the question directly leading to that?

Q. What happens if you do move to another club? Will your heart still be in it?
A. I will give my soul every game. I did every time on the pitch with Uruguay, Ajax and Liverpool.

Mix it up a bit, take away the context, place it next to a different question with different context, et voila.

It certainly seems he wants to go, I think it's hard to think otherwise now, but the bile spewed about him is frankly ridiculous making any quotes from any source utterly unreliable.

I really don't know whats happening anymore. And to be honest I don't have a lot of faith in him anymore. But ones things for sure, I have far less faith in the press.

All this faux sentimentality and affection does my head in. Does a player have to love fans? Does a player have to love a club to do well for it?

I can understand 10 year olds getting upset about their favourite player leaving, but grown men crying over a bloke and feeling all hurt because he doesn't love them back is a bit childish.

He's done a few only, they've just been repeated and re-arranged. And he never said he'd give his soul for RM. I don't think even a tabloid printed that, you made it up purely by yourself.

Staggering the belief put into written interviews, they're there to sell and make money they do this by engineering the story to be as sensationalist as possible to get the biggest reaction and therefore get people to buy either the paper or create page impressions on a website where there's advertising running.

Regardless of that though for me if he goes the club will endure like it always has done and another "superstar" will emerge at some point if he stays brilliant.

I was under the impression he was contracted until 30 June 2018, as stated here. He signed in January 2011 on a five and a half year contract, taking him to 30 June 2016 (link). In August 2012, he signed a new contract (link) but finding details of this is difficult. The only real snippet is chat about a four year contract. I guess you could take it either way, the remaining four years of his initial contract on enhanced terms until 2016, or penning a new deal with a better wage and another four years taking him up to 2018.

Obviously with the club saying he's got three years left, that would be the most reliable source. So if I called you up on this and I'm wrong, I apologise, Arn.

It wasn't a personal dig at your post Sarb, yours was just the latest in a long line of posts referencing love in relation to a man and a football club.

You do seem to be irrationally upset by the whole thing though, even using imagery to reinforce the point that Suarez is a cheating partner who betraying your unconditional love and support for him. (I'm talking about the "lifting his skirt line" - if that doesn't sound like a prissy, disapproving, moralility snob, then I'm the heir to the belgian throne)

Fact is, he joined Liverpool and that was his new job. That job was better than his old job. Now he wants a new job that's better than his current job. I very much doubt love and affection has ever entered his mind!

The press have an agenda against anybody that helps sell papers. Any slightly famous no-mark, not just footballers, who sticks their head about the parrot pit will be shot at.

Because players saying things like this is a part of the deal. When a player sign a contract with a club then almost all the time he also agree to talk positive about the fans and club in interviews and doing a lot of commercial stuff.

I will give my soul means that he will do what he is asked to do as part of a contract. He won't love them. He will do his work for them, talk positive about them, do commercials for them and of course play football.
