Very interesting interview. On one hand, it could be seen as romantic, or even sensationalist, but on the other hand it's one of the more evenhanded pieces I've seen on Suarez. I've been largely disappointed with a lot of the Guardian's football journalism in the last year or so but I enjoyed reading that. Thanks for sharing!

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

The Independent have the same interview. Clearly a PR offensive by the club.
Yes, an attempt to manage the media. It came as a shock to me too.

No, I think it's definitely not too late although it might be overdue. He's been demonised in sections of the media and articles like this help to remind people he's human and there's more to him than the two-dimensional cartoon monster of the tabloid press.Originally posted by acdmackay View PostIs it too late to change peoples perceptions of him though? Personally I don't care.
Of course most won't read it but some will. And not just rival fans. If it changes the way officials see him on and off the pitch, if it corrects any false or misleading impressions they may have, then that's got to be good..

Personally regardless of this type of PR nothing really changed.Originally posted by acdmackay View PostI think it would only take a good conversation with Suarez to realise he is not the man that he can be on the pitch sometimes and far, far away from the demeanor of a racist. He seems like a very warm personality in reality. Nice to see a paper printing the two sides to the story for once.
The story imo only reinforced our belief and love for Luis and other clubs hatred and open dislikeness.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

What a tedious tosser. It's impossible to know whether his bias has made him stupid or whether he's stupid naturally. Either way he's best ignored..
