It's because Bellamy didn't snog him back, that he stayed on the pitch.

The polar opposite of the Reina, Perch situation last season.

Great goal tonight but the amount of chances he squandered was bordering on ridiculous. Seems that he is just trying to do too much by himself when all it calls for is a bit of simplicity. Still think he could be made into a goal machine but he just needs a bit of guidance.

How easy chances did he miss yesterday?

In my opinion he wasn't up to his usual standard against Sunderland even though he scored. However, I would rather he played average and scored a goal than played fantastic but didn't score at all.

                  Rodgers calls for Suarez caution

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers does not want Luis Suarez to change his approach but says the Uruguayan must be wary of ill-discipline.
Suarez scored the Reds' equaliser against Sunderland on Saturday as they earned a point but also picked up a booking for a needless dive.

Two more yellow cards would see the 25-year-old suspended for one league game and, though Rodgers praised the desire shown by the striker, he conceded his star man must show more control.

"He is an emotional guy, he runs on emotion, as some players do," he told Sky Sports.

"That is part of what makes him and he is on to three (yellow cards) now so he'll have to be careful. You are always trying to educate players and talk to them.

"I have no complaints, I read from the outside all these reports about Luis Suarez but he has been an absolute pleasure to work with from the first day I came in here and he is a good guy who works very hard every day and gets his rewards on the field."

The Northern Irishman went on to praise 17-year-old winger Raheem Sterling, who provided the cross which resulted in Suarez's goal.

The winger recently earned an England call-up after impressing since breaking into the Merseyside outfit's first team, but Rodgers is committed to keeping the youngster's feet on the ground.

"I am sure it is difficult for him to take it all," he added.

"You get a lot of adulation for playing well but him and I communicate which is part of me trying to keep him level-headed and making sure the whole situation does not distort his reality.

"The reality is he is an exceptional talent we want to nurture and make sure he is around for many years, not just for a few months and he is a good kid, he is a good listener, which is important, he is a really, really good lad.

"It is our job to manage him and manage the expectation and just let him concentrate on his football.

"He is a very level-headed boy. He doesn't waste his time doing stupid things, he comes into work with the first team and listens to the senior professionals, he is happy to listen to the coaches and it has been quite straightforward with him, and his performances have done the talking and he has come in every day to work and worked well.

"We know he still has a mountain to climb to be a top player but what we are seeing at 17 years of age is the early stages of his career and he is going to be a real talent."

That tart from Sky asks Rodgers... ''have we seen the two sides of Luis Suarez today, with the needless dive and the goal?''
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Wasn't a dive, he made a meal of a foul, players do it every week.

Anyone suggesting we should sell him can go **** themselves, assbags.

He's been bloody terrible in the last two games. Really bad. Its not the shooting etc more the fact that he's losing the ball all of the sodding time. A mixture of poor touches, misplaced passes and head down runs into groups of defenders.

Give peace a chance: Suarez and Evra expected to shake hands on emotional day

With the focus on matters of far greater significance, the two rivals are expected to put their differences aside should they face each other

Liverpool will treat Manchester United's visit on Sunday like any other from their north-west rivals on what is expected to be an emotionally-charged afternoon at Anfield.

Sunday's encounter is Liverpool's first appearance at home since the Hillsborough Independent Panel cleared the club's supporters of any blame in relation to the 1989 disaster when 96 fans lost their lives.

The club will, understandably, mark this breakthrough for the bereaved families at the game and want that to be given due deference instead of any other issues surrounding supporters or players. The club have yet to reveal their plans for any tributes to the Hillsborough victims at the game.

The atmosphere at past games has always been volatile but after the race row which engulfed Reds striker Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra in the corresponding fixture last October tensions between fans have gone up a notch.

Suarez, banned for eight matches by the Football Association after being found guilty of using racially abusive language, did not shake the Frenchman's hand when they met at Old Trafford in February and that eventually resulted in apologies from Liverpool and the player.

The Uruguay international is, MirrorFootball understands, expected to shake hands with Evra if they line up opposite each other at Anfield, where the focus will be on matters of far greater significance.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers and counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson last week called for an end to the distasteful chants by rival fans about Hillsborough and the Munich air disaster of 1958, in which eight United players were among those killed. However, a small minority of United supporters briefly ignored those pleas during the Red Devils' victory over Wigan on Saturday.

The managers are likely to be asked about their supporters' behaviour again in the pre-match build-up later this week but at an organisational level nothing out of the ordinary is being planned.

Unlike the attitudes of rival fans, the relationship at boardroom level between Liverpool and Manchester United is much more cordial.

Dialogue frequently takes place between the two clubs and that, as is the norm before the north west rivals' matches, is expected to be the case again this week.

The Hillsborough families' fight for justice was supported by clubs and supporters up and down the country at the weekend and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, whose 10-year-old cousin Jon-Paul Gilhooley was killed in the tragedy, expressed his thanks.

"It's been mixed emotions since the report came out," said the England midfielder after their 1-1 draw at Sunderland.

"We're really happy with the breakthrough but it brings back memories of all those years ago.

"On behalf of the club I'd like to thank everyone in the city, both Red and Blue, and everyone around the country for supporting our club and our fans."
