£40m?!! I always thought it was around £20m tops. WowOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostThey paid about £40m for (the admittedly brilliant) Javi Martinez in the summer. A DM FFS! So with that in mind I wouldn't sell Suarez for anything less than £50m."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

Don't doubt you mate, just surprised they spent that amount. Was listening to a radio discussion about Pep the other day and one of the presenters was going on about how Bayern do not spend huge sums.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostJust looked it up - they met his buyout clause which was €40m. So what's that - £34m ish?

Whether intentional or not, Suarez has played a blinder here. On the surface it look like he's dropped a bollock and BR has roundly condemned him and add that he will be 'dealt with internally'.
On the flip side, if he contines to stay on his feet, he's just put the pressure on players like Bale, Nani etc. as everybody will now be on the radar.
Either he's a genius or another bumb footballer.Winning an argument on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win you are still a retard!

Bayern also spent about €30m on Mario Gomez and €22m on Neuer.
They're not afraid to spend money. Obviously we'd try and rebuff any offer for Suarez but if Guardiola identified him as his No.1 target I'm sure Bayern would have the cash to meet our valuation. Which I'd imagine would be similar to what we got for Torres.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

I am not so sure about that.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostWe're climbing the table and not that far behind 4th place. Plenty to fight for and the team is improving. I get the feeling Suarez wants to cement his name in the team that brought Liverpool back from the dark.
We are improving very slowly and it is doubtful if we will be able to make top 4 over next few years.
For Luis to be considered truly world class player he needs to play in CL and compete with the best and that is not the case at the moment.
There are tons of clubs who could afford his price tag and pay him way more than us and who's to say that he won't put the pressure to leave if they come for him.
Personally I think he may be gone this summer unless we make it into top 4 or we come so close that he get sense that we will be going places in a not so distant future.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

- I unfortunately think we've left it too late this year after our piss poor start but I can really see us pushing hard for it next year
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

Why do people at lfc have to talk openly about Suarez leaving mid season!
It's like pushing the door ajar, there you go mate, don't fret over it....if we don't make top 4 off you toddle, no hard feelings, no need to stay and fight with us, Champions league is where you belong. Bye.
Let the media talk about it amongst themselves! we know they will!Last edited by Vermilion; 21-01-13, 04:42 PM.
