I keep seeing this around - where's it come from?

    Edit - first bit obviously

But the Football Association must now remove the emotion from the incident and ensure football justice takes it course.

Those people outraged by Suarez’s behaviour will be looking on thinking: 'surely even the FA cannot mess up something as cut and dried as this?’

In football terms, what Suarez did is a straight-forward case of violent conduct. But the normal penalty for that offence is a three-match suspension, and in this instance that is clearly insufficient.

Fortunately, the FA has within its armoury a little-used rule by which they can issue a misconduct charge against Suarez because the “penalty does not fit the crime”, and seek an extended suspension and fine.

Much has been made of the Suarez’s previous disciplinary offences but the FA is limited in this respect.

For example, the other biting incident in Holland, when Suarez was playing for Ajax, cannot be used against him as it was not under the jurisdiction of the English FA.

His previous record in England does not include any previous misdemeanours for violent conduct and so the FA is again limited as to how much emphasis they can place on his previous character.

Of course, there was the disgraceful racism incident involving Manchester United’s Patrice Evra and, whilst the FA disciplinary panel will take this into account, it is not a similar type of offence, i.e. violent conduct, and the impact on the penalty for his latest escapade will be restricted.

Despite this, I believe that the FA will look to make an example of Suarez and can see him getting a penalty which is at least double the norm.

For Liverpool’s part, it is absolutely clear that the club has learned its lesson after the PR debacle the last time Suarez transgressed.

The club have emerged strongly from it and were swift and powerful in their response and credit should be given where credit is due, although it is unlikely to make any difference to the ban of around eight matches which Suarez can expect.

Graham Bean was the Football Association’s Compliance Officer between 1999 and 2003. He now represents leading clubs and players in disciplinary matters through his Football Factors advisory company.

It should be 3 games minimum, with extra for bringing the game into disrepute or something along those lines. The FA are an utter abomination.
I completely agree.. but they are. There is clear bias because he is foreign and i do think 10 games is excessive, but in all honesty he just bite another man on live tv!

I watched it and i just couldn't believe it. Here we go again kinda thing. He's a crazy genius, it's just in him..... the guy is uncontrollable but i still love him. I'm just worried about the impact this will have on what is suppose to be the season in which Rodgers has to get it right.

This ban is like a kick in the teeth for LFC. If only we made as much headlines on the pitch as we do off it.

Read that the other day Phoe but I've not seen anything official to back it up.

The worst part of that is that when he leans over pretending to show concern, he's actually pushing the other guy's head in to the ground and then has another sly kick

The more I think about this the more think about this, the more I think we should just accept it and move on. They have clearly taken his past in England into account.

Lets face it, he bit another person. Hardly something the FA come across everyday. The ban may be a bit much, but fighting it isn't going to help us. All it does is drag this club I love through even more muck. Getting a little sick of it at the moment.

I dunno about you lot, but I support the club because they bring me happiness and a bit of a distraction from real life. When things like this happen it makes me want to **** the whole thing off and go outside for a walk. It's ****ing tediously boring.

Suarez needs to grow up and stop acting like such a child on the pitch. I don't care that he is a genius during things like this. It's ****ing annoying.

It's boring and annoying yes, but I can't stand double standards and injustices - and this is a clear case of both IMO. Appeal, get it rightly reduced - then forget about it and move on.

When something is wrong/unfair, then that's what it is, you don't stop fighting it on the basis that you'll get a bit more stick for doing so. imo.
