    Exactly

If Balague was saying that Suarez loved the city and was desperate to stay we'd all be lauding his information as spot on

For what it's worth I think at the very least this indicates Suarez might want to leave. It seems likely it's Suarez's agent leaking the information, presumably with Luis's consent. Worrying times IMO

Well that would be more accurate and believable than stating he hates it.

But perhaps that was the only way to make him sign a new deal last summer, a guarentee for him to be able to leave if we couldn't compete (more or less).

It's not uncommon, and at least we would make double what we paid for him, and IMO he is far from as irreplacable as some suggests.

Why? And how do you know it would be more accurate?

No obviously not. What I mean is that he must know his agent, and so his agent might feed him things. (Which might well be bull****)

Come off it. There are lots of possible reasons why he signed a long term contract - a pay rise or better terms in some other way, the insertion of a low release clause so he can leave whenever he wants, the financial security of a long contract in case he gets badly injured... It's meaningless.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I'm sure I've read or heard him saying he likes the City and feels at home here. So that would contradict what he said, so why would I believe it?

He might be a liar of course, but time will tell.

I think we've got to accept our position at the table - Read Madrid can double his wages over night, they're always fighting for the league (in Ramos' case literally ), and they play in the Champions League every year. We can't do any of those things, add in the non-footballing factors like language, family and weather and we are going to struggle to keep him if the rumours are true and they do want him.

For Suarez to turn Real Madrid DOWN would be the bigger surprise IMO.

Hopefully the €40m release clause doesn't exist - however I've a sneaky feeling that it is in there. We allowed Kuyt to have a £1m clause remember.

I think in the long term he would be replaceable but I think in terms of gaining momentum for a challenge for the top 4 or better next season then it would be very, very hard to end up in an equal or better position having sold him.

Well, I wouldn't even rule out that he bit Ivanovic so he could get a move. He had a few offers when he played at Ajax but they refused to sell him. After the bite they was prepared to sell him.

Suarez isn't an idiot. If he do something like that then he do it for a reason. He know that the cameras will pick it up.

                        But that is my opinion.

Of course, I'm probably a romantic.

That's such an equivocal statement it could have been made by Ballague a few years ago in his 'player x may or may not sign for Liverpool' days.

I think what it shows is that there is money to be made writing speculative stories about Suarez's future.

If Suarez does indeed want out then I can only hope the 40m clause is bull**** because if it isn't that's all we're getting.
40m for a player that is comfortably in the top 5 players in world football. Sigh...
