No evidence that he did it more than one time and the only evidence out there is that he used a word that isn't racist.

Evra changed his story many times, Suarez didn't.

Poyet thinks, as others have suggested, that Suarez might have used the word "negrito", and that it was misinterpreted by Evra. "In Uruguay it is a nickname for someone whose skin is darker than the rest," he explains. "It is not offensive. Such people are part of our society. We will defend them, go to war with them, share everything with them, and at the same time use that word. But I do understand that in England the word is used differently, so we have to pay attention how we use it. We need to adapt. Do we as foreigners need to adapt more to England than England to us? Yes, of course. That's common sense. I know things Luis Suarez does not know because I have been here 14 years. So let's use common sense and give the kid a chance."

It's a reference to skin colour. Suarez knew it was a sensitive term and his defence was based on it being a jovial and friendly term. Only he wasn't using it an jovial and friendly situation, he was using it in an argument. The whole 'nigrito' defence is is bollocks, and it also assumes that it was the term used.

It was out of order and he was rightfully punished. Excessively? Maybe, maybe not.

I agree on the Evra point. No evidence he used it 8 times. However, my friend, he did admit to making reference to Evra's ethnicity or colour once and that is enough for me to agree that his punishment was fair. My issue that followed that is that Terry's wasn't the same length and on that point you are right. There was disproportionate treatment of two identical cases. Terry should have got 8 matches.

And Poyet "think" Suarez "may have" are the key words in that article.

Look Arn. What are you saying here. Are you saying that having admitted that he used certain racially offensive words he should have been let off?
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

The first line says 'we go to war with them' so by their own admission they are defining a race by it's colour. Isn't this racism?

Negro isn't a racist word. Anyone with any grasp of the English language will tell you that.

It is all about context but the word negro can easily be deemed racist in this country. Naïve and offensive to think otherwise.

Is it me, or are some of you changing your tune iro the Suarez racism thing? The generally accepted view on here at least was that he was naive to use the language he did due to cultural differences, and that we was harshly persecuted by all and sundry as a result.

Today, the general consensus apart from Arn is that his behaviour was indeed unacceptable, and he was being racist.
                          Oh I don't know.

                            Very prudent thinking.
