Evra accused Suarez of calling him a "******" multiple times (Evra was adamant about this). Not negro, nor negrito. Suarez admitted to calling him negro once. Unless using the colour of Evra's skin as a perjorative (ie Black Cunt), calling him "black" (ie negro) is not racist.

Is it me, or are some of you changing your tune iro the Suarez racism thing? The generally accepted view on here at least was that he was naive to use the language he did due to cultural differences, and that we was harshly persecuted by all and sundry as a result.

Today, the general consensus apart from Arn is that his behaviour was indeed unacceptable, and he was being racist.

I questioned that recently. Very strange indeed.

Quite funny too, because I thought the evidence that those calling him a racist are using (ie the FA hearing) concluded with words along the lines of them believing he’s not actually a racist.

At the end of the day we've moved on as a society to the point where it really doesn't matter a toss what colour someone is. Saying the word Negro isn't racist, describing someone as Negro isn't racist but I'm pretty damn sure saying 'Hey, Negro' was Suarez doing his level best to wind Evra up and was racist.

Dom, anyone who called him on it at the time and said it was irrelevent whether he said Negro or Negrito were quickly put in their places and told we didn't get it. I remember being ripped in to by Nicey who had loads of South American friends of course.

Evra clearly heard something that really disturbed him, his body language tells you that. He approached the ref immediately and the ref looked like he was acting on what had been said to him by Evra.

The illusion that Evra sat in the dressing room wondering how he could get back at Suarez is plainly wrong. He was perhaps unclear on protocol or maybe thought he'd wait and ask his boss how he should deal with the matter.

The best outcome here is that something was lost in translation but Evra clearly thought he'd heard something. Correctly or incorrectly

He should've let his football do the talking and deserves all that's coming to him if he used ANY reference to race regardless of this bollocks about it meaning something different in Uruguay

We always knew he was a bit daft but this is disappointing (EDIT: I should've added 'if true' and not assumed that folk would know that that's what I meant)

anyways, we need to be firm with this ****er.
tell him to hand in a transfer request and we will let him go for 40m.
if he doesnt hand in a transfer request the fee will be 60m.

this way if he hands in the request we will save 50% [approx] of his outstanding wages, and at 100k a week for 3-4 years, maybe an extra 10m saved.
this would then be the equivalent of selling him for 50m. it also means we dont get bitched right at the end of the window and have no time to replace and strengthen the squad.

I love watching him play football for Liverpool, that bit is brilliant, but I am sick and tired of the circus that goes with it.
