I think that the club have agreed with Suarez that he will be sold - neither club nor player have said anything to make me think otherwise. Just about making sure we get the right money for him now and reinvesting sensibly.

Do you remember the square 9v batteries as a kid? I know most kids these days set fire to **** and rob shops but when I was a kid we used to put our tongues across them.Originally posted by Assassin View PostGinger *****

If this is the case I really hope that we have only agreed to sell him to an overseas club as selling him to a Premiership rival would be beyond stupid no matter what the price is.Originally posted by rudedog View PostI think that the club have agreed with Suarez that he will be sold - neither club nor player have said anything to make me think otherwise. Putting this here and not in the Twitter thread because of the ongoing Luis saga, and also because I have an opinion on this whether it is true or not:
@Futbol_Mercado: El Real Madrid ofrece 12 millones de euros más el pase de Gonzalo Higuaín por el delantero uruguayo del Liverpool, Luis Suárez.
They say Real is offering Higuain + €12M for Suarez
My thought is, if they made that £15M and Higuain, I would take it.
I guess we could play hardball, but Higuain under contract is worth £25M-£30M by my reckoning. They already rejected a €27M Arsenal bid according to Marca... So, he's on the last legs of his deal, he should be discounted, but he averages 20+ a season; he's scored 106 league goals and 39 assists in 188 league matches since 2007 for Madrid.
He would play well in our set up, he's 25 years old, and we would prevent a rival from obtaining a very good player while getting rid of a player who wants gone. Could use the money to shore up the team as well.
They both want away, both good, and he would bag goals for us... I would be tempted at £15M + the player... I know, I know... £50M or bust, but at the end of the day, I would pull the trigger on that deal. The pride and "value" is all optics. We need goals and if Luis wants gone, Higuain is one of the best replacements we could find at this point... not a complete like for like, value for value replacement, but you could do much, much worse."Our legacy begets an excellence that surpasses the particulars of who produces it." -- David Carr
