That is the problem in a nutshell, whether we get £40M for Suarez or £100M for him we are going to be in the same predicament attracting players to join, That Armenian fella wouldn't even meet with us.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostSoldado is hilariously over-rated, they're asking 30m euros for him. he is 28 years old and Spurs are in talks with them. Eriksen is a good player. All of our signings so far this summer have been squad players. How can you convince a top player to sign or stay with Liverpool?
We've struck gold with Coutinho, we got Suarez for a snip but we can't keep doing this as these players are so rare to find, the chances are we are far more likely to getting the Downings of this world as that's the scenario we find ourselves in.Kurtangled in the McFadden thread 16/01/08

Fixed for youOriginally posted by Arn View PostThis is one thing I will never really understand. That really isn't loyalty. It is a part of the job to protect ourplayersassets.
More or less every club do it whatever the player done to protect their investment.
You show the players loyalty by paying them what they are worth.

not really it's about getting players and nurturing their talent...take Coutinho...totally different player to the one at Inter why ? due to Br and lfc ...there is plenty of talent out there ...we'll get back to the top even if it means doing it the hard way by not having a sugar daddyOriginally posted by Gazzla View PostThat is the problem in a nutshell, whether we get £40M for Suarez or £100M for him we are going to be in the same predicament attracting players to join, That Armenian fella wouldn't even meet with us.

Put it this way. If he wasn't a highly valuable salable asset then the club would have been very keen to get rid. All this trash about standing by players is daft. It's all about protecting your investment and posturing to get the most money out of getting rid of themOriginally posted by James P View PostHow so? I'm pointing out that, entirely separate to this process, he's behaved previously in a way that would have seen him out of the door, which is an example of the fact that footballers are allowed to sink to far lower moral standards than 'normal' employees.

This quagmire makes me feel as if I wasted a lot of time hating Torres. He acted like a prat but there's no comparison. I will not be as heartbroken when Suarez leaves though because his behavior has massively reduced any affection I may have had for him. He doesn't seem worthy of my support at the moment.
