He can't play until October because of his ban so why not let the whole issue slide.
There doesn't appear to be an escape clause in his contract so just keep any official discussions with agents/suitors private and make no comments other than "he's under contract as a Liverpool player.
Even if we got £50 million + before the window slams shut I doubt we could get a realistic replacement that soon, we could even end up with another Carroll scenario.
Come October he'll be biting mad to play football again
His value wont diminish over another year so why not wait.

People can say what they like but they are not a bigger club than us, not in any terms. He'd be better off giving it another season here and moving to a foreign club next summer if he still wants to move on and we don't make the CL
I think if he does stay this season he will move next summer even if we qualify for the CL. The only scenario I can see him possibly staying in is if we win the PL."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

Cannot disagree with that tbh, we needed at least one player who is proven and will walk into our first team and improve it instantly. But, there is still a long way to go in the window so we do have time to add that quality (I just hope we have the money!).Originally posted by kingfunk View PostDisaster ain't it, to be fair he's probably not very impressed with our ambition in the window so far. I still believe we will fall short of fourth with the current squad."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

If we end up buying Carroll for £35m again then I'm giving up footballOriginally posted by Fan65 View PostHe can't play until October because of his ban so why not let the whole issue slide.

There could be something in him wishing to move his family to a city like London though. If anything I am surprised Chelsea have not made a move for him, if they did we could potentially do a decent deal with them.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostI just don't understand the desire to move to a club that has won nothing for almost 10 years. Yes the are in the CL but lets face it they have about as much chance of winning it as we currently do. Arsenal is not a football club but more of a business that is happy to finish 4 each season."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

Indeed. Arsenal is the 2nd worst case scenario as they could occupy the final CL place after City, Chelsea and Spurs. The worst case scenario is if he signed for Utd and propelled them in to EuropeOriginally posted by Tee View PostThere could be something in him wishing to move his family to a city like London though. Why would he want to move to London though? Surely he gets less hassle from the press in Liverpool than he would in London? But then again, I don't live in London so I don't really knowOriginally posted by Tee View PostThere could be something in him wishing to move his family to a city like London though. Moving to Arsenal makes no sense whatsoever for me. They're happy just to finish 4th every season and I can't see him winning a trophy there. Lack some serious bottle
