Nicked from elsewhere. Bit of a gem this.
The more I read that beeb article, the funnier it gets. A few tidbits:
"While Liverpool are confident that from a legal perspective their position stands up to scrutiny - and Suarez reluctantly agrees - the player is adamant the Reds have gone back on their word and feels let down."
Translation: The gooners don't have a leg to stand on, were taught a harsh lesson when they thought £40m+£1 will get them Suarez, are now made to look a laughing stock and are trying to force the issue through some no-mark gooner journo by wining like little menstrual bitches. How dare we, going back on our word and letting Suarez down - bad, bad club.
The above paragraph also tells me something else (though I might be wrong on this): Arsene "Voyeur" Wenger is probably reluctant to up the bid and uses every bit of leverage he could get in the hope of turning this around.
"Whereas Liverpool have not played in the Champions League since 2009 and missed out on European qualification altogether for next season, Arsenal will feature in the competition for a 17th consecutive campaign."
Absolute gem, this! Yeah, that's right. And Arsenal's trophy cabinet "features" the grand ****ing total of 0 (zero, nada, zilch) European cups in that period or ever.
Arsenal "featuring" in the CL is the same as Bolton featuring in the PL before they got relegated - some no-mark team with no ****ing history to speak of, being there for no other reason, but making up the numbers.
I won't even bother with how many ****ing trophies "feature" in the Arsenal trophy cabinet for the past 8 years. I don't know about you, but I smell desperation!
I hope, though, that we don't **** this up.Last edited by Leyton388; 03-08-13, 01:07 AM.

Just need to get something off my chest.
My eldest brother is visiting and tonight we had a massive argument about Liverpool. He used to follow football as a teenager, but he's since become an "intellectual" and doesn't have much time for it anymore. I found out tonight that he was done with it once and for all after the Suarez-Evra incident. To give some context, he hasn't followed the club legitimately for many years, so his knowledge of what actually happened is peripheral. He did not spend week after week (as I did) following the media and the ultimately very damaging fallout that occurred as a result of the incident.
Anyway, tonight he asked me how I could support a player like Suarez, who is so clearly a racist. He brought up the "I don't talk to blacks" quote from Evra's testimony, taking it as proven fact. Don't think he was aware that it was hearsay. Anyway, he started saying that I am a participant in a process that glosses over racism and treats footballers like they are exempt from basic morality all for the goal of winning. I started telling him that it wasn't so black and white, that there was a lot he didn't know, and that I resented his lecturing as someone who has read one or two articles, whereas I spent a lot of my time getting all of the details and trying to ascertain what actually happened. As we all know, what happened is unclear. One man's word against another's. He wondered how I could defend a player, and wondered how football fans could be so corrupt, supporting teams that supposedly condone this sort of behavior (Chelsea, Liverpool, etc).
As I said, we had a massive fight. Really bad. I'm currently in tears. It's not worth getting so upset about a football team, but it really, really makes me feel awful when my morality is called into question because of the club I support. Makes me feel like ****.
Anyway, I dunno. I just felt that you lot might be able to understand, given that you have followed the club through the entire ordeal.

Suarez is a cunt, but he's our cunt. I don't believe for a nanosecond that he's a racist, he's just a complete ****** on the field of play. In my opinion there's no way that he intended to offend the white people in the UK then Evra and Ferguson accused him of racism. He was mixing it in his own place and the morally superior idiots tried to make an example of him. This is an argument I've really tired of, but whatever happens I don't agree with the way he was treated by Manchester United and The FA. Same thing.

That sucks Marina. Its not worth getting that worked up over. Ive got many friends that follow other teams who have the same views as your brother. Its all based on hearsay and thats my sole response to any jibes they throw at me. I dont bother going any deeper wth them its not worth the bother."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

Having had so many in depth discussions of that whole incident on here, and with offline friends who follow football closely, I found that trying to remotely discuss the incident with anyone who wasn't so interested or had only caught a headline or two was impossibly frustrating.
The "how can you support a team that condones this" argument is pretty stupid though, there is a massive difference between supporting someone you genuinely believe to be innocent (or misrepresented etc) and actively condoning or promoting discriminatory behaviour. Unfortunately people often want to see these sort of things in absolute terms, even though in the real world the truth is almost always a shade of grey.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Over the last year or so I've learned to avoid getting into arguments about us.
Part of the problem is this place is such a good news aggregator and bull**** filter that its hard not to jump in when someone's mouthing off about something inaccurate or assumed, so it's hard not to get involved. It just gives me a headache because ultimately i know it'll finish with them repeating their original bollocks, completely ignoring what you've said - or saying they were 'on a wind-up' and not to take things so seriously.

**** off.Last edited by Fivex; 03-08-13, 03:49 AM.Hello mert.

I am just your average lurker on this site, have been for some years now but i have to say what marina experienced and what we all experience defending this guy whether innocent or guilty is something we as fans should never have to do. What is that saying "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" ...
I feel fooled for a third time now because of all the support we have given this guy he still wants to chuck that loyalty in our face, if that were not the case he would have repaid that loyalty and issued a statement showing his commitment at least for one more season, i believe we were owed that at least.
Another thing annoys me about this guy is that he does not see his failing as maybe one of the reasons we did not qualify for CL football, having his overpaid ass sit on the bench because of his indiscretions not to mention the effect he would have on us (or the arsenal) at the start of the current campaign.
If he stays (IF) i will cheer every goal he scores for us, i will enjoy his excellent skills, i will praise him if he helps get us back into CL football but as a person i will never regard him as someone i would be proud to say wore the Liverpool shirt.
