Just remind me how old you were in the 1970s.Originally posted by Norbs View PostGerrard is ... head and shoulders above our 70's and 80's superstars ...
Gerrard has lots going for him and has had to carry some poor teams. He has also kept it going for a long-time but he wouldn't be in my top five.

In terms of ability he's up there, I can't recall all the greats but as good as Barnes was for example Luis just does things that you can't even imagine.
This might be taken negatively but given how good he is and how well Sturridge is performing if we don't finish 4th (at least) then you'd have to question what the rest of our squad are up to because between them there aren't many better strikers/attacking players in terms of numbers at clubs anywhere.Vive la France

Really, who would be above him? thru the 70's/80's we were a team, but Ste would walk in to any of them. They were an amazing (group) team, to a man brilliant, but individual ability IMo there were not five above him.Originally posted by Paul12 View PostJust remind me how old you were in the 1970s.

GerrardOriginally posted by TheElephantMan View PostWe all see different things in different players. Souness is my favourite, but I think Suarez is the best player we've ever had. Gerrard, Dalglish and Barnes are clearly the greatest in terms of their status at this club.
Dalglish
Barnes
Gerrard has always been an unbelievable player who carried the teams for years at the end of the Houllier era and the start of the Benitez one. Dalglish speaks for himself. Barnes is the most talented player I've ever seen play for Liverpool.Jellyfish are 97% water or something, so how much are they doing? Just give them another 3% and make them water. It's more useful

the non flair players often get overlooked when people think back to who the greats are. maybe people have fond memories for the players who gave us that buzz and brought the stadium to their feet.
i still remember beardsley souness and mcmahon hansen sami etc giving their all time and time again. these were still great playersremoving all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I agree the great non flair players were brilliant too. Without them they wouldn't have won most of the trophies. But you always remember the ones that got you off your feet.Originally posted by baitman View Postthe non flair players often get overlooked when people think back to who the greats are. maybe people have fond memories for the players who gave us that buzz and brought the stadium to their feet.

Without the likes of Yeats, Smith, Thompson, Hansen, Souness, McMahon & to a certain extent Alonso we wouldn't be talking about the others.Jellyfish are 97% water or something, so how much are they doing? Just give them another 3% and make them water. It's more useful
