So if he caught his foot knocking him off balance then it's still a dive? If there was contact and he went down, then it's no booking, even if it's not a free kick. Correct decision was made.

Edit: Should have been a FK, Demichelis was nowhere near the ball.

Of course it's a dive, there is no way that the contact if there was any was enough to send him to the floor. Then the rolling around afterwards It's the kind of thing he need to cut out, he might have won a penalty when he was pushed in the box if he didn't have a reputation for throwing himself on the floor.

That's exactly what I want to see players booked for. We got lucky yesterday as I think Clattenberg bottled the decision. Whether it was the occasion, the fact it was Anfield, simple incompetence or the fact that the ref had created such a possible decision by dishing out an early yellow.
Forget about FKs to be awarded, what we have is a player trying to con the ref into a decision.

City didn't cover themselves in glory yesterday either, trying to get him sent off, constantly moaning to the ref etc

It was a big old dive, no way around it. He's a lot better than he was though so fair play to him. And it was against City as well so you have to knock it down to the mildest of transgressions.

              Bollocks.

He knocked the ball past him and tried running round him, his right foot was off the ground and his standing left foot was caught, causing him to go down. The rolling about afterwards has **** all to do with it, but you're letting that influence your judgement.

And the fact your saying 'if there was any' proves you haven't even seen it properly but are still arguing because when Suarez is involved, it must be a dive.

Or a player that has to exaggerate contact because his 'reputation' prevents him getting decisions that other players normally get.

In the end, it doesn't matter.....the ref didn't judge it a foul or a dive.

The likes of Gareth Bale frequently got FKs for tackles such as that, and on here he's been slaughtered for going down too easy with suggestions that he was at pace etc ridiculed as being excuses for a player trying to influence a ref.

I don't think it was a foul in any way, and MOTD's explanation of sufficient contact was pretty specious at best. Contact doesn't automatically mean foul, there has to be an overreaching reason for the player to have gone down................going by the rules, I guess you could argue that there was an 'careless attempt' to trip the player, but I think the fact that Suarez was probably about to lose possession cannot be ignored.

Yeah good to see there was some contact atleast, yes yes we all know it's probably not enough to bring him down, but that doesn't matter, what most Suarez haters wanted was a dive with absolutely no contact at all, no get out, and yesterday they thought they had him bang to rights.

It's a daft way to define diving i know, but for many that's what seems to be the way with football now, if there is contact a player is entitled to go down....apparently, so the waters are muddied sufficently which is good.

So, that'll do me, in this instance.

Well Demechelis got nowhere near the ball and caught Suarez standing foot, so by my standards that's a foul. Maybe as you say the ref thought Suarez wasn't reaching the ball, so didn't give the foul, but IMO it definitely wasn't a dive. He made the most of it definitely, but maybe when he seen the ref wasn't giving the foul, he had to exaggerate the contact afterwards, to prove it did happen so he wasn't sent off.

Well it's over with now. I've seen worse attempts this season not get punished with yellows, so Suarez is hardly alone in that regard.
City players were annoyingly boisterous towards the ref throughout the game yesterday as well which heightened the reaction towards the incident.

There's no point beating about the bush, he was back to acting the cunt, he was a disaster waiting to happen. I was half expecting him to chow down on someone.

It's like when one of the kids misbehave. Still love our Luis, I just don't like him very much right now.

However given his recent impeccable behavior we can view it as an abhorrence. The team will give him an arse kicking and he'll be right again.
