Did this really warrant such a punishment? Not imo.

And I don't think anyone is really blaming all and sundry ahead of the player himself.
I think Suarez deserved a severe punishment but no international ban would hurt him enough imo

A total ban hurts him as he will have no involvement in the game whatsoever

Unfortunately the total ban hurts us as a club

Its a really difficult one to take from the view of the club

Its a punishment for Suarez, LFC are just unlucky enough to employ him and rely on his massive talent.

In that case, this type of ban should be commonplace.

        It isn't.

They are addressing the symptom and not the cause, and causing a load of collateral damage at the same time.

A two year international ban would have been fitting imo.
        Oh I don't know.

It would have been, but they're punishing the player - I doubt its even for just that incident in isolation, its everything over a period of time. Its because of his past.

I' not saying that's right, but FIFA probably want to be seen as coming down hard in their showcase event.

            It's getting massively stupid.

If it was first offence I'd agree with you but it isn't

              Its the 3rd

Banning him domestically the last time hasn't worked so I don't think an International ban would have worked either

I think this will hurt him badly hes totally being ostracised from football

Will it be enough to stop him doing it again, I doubt it but even his wife hasn't managed to get through to him

Right. So the reasoning for the punishment is to deter him from doing it again, but it's expected that he'll do it again.

So look at the cause rather than the symptom. And punish the team he is playing for, at the time.
                  Oh I don't know.

No this was an exceptional case. The worlds premier sporting event watched in almost every country on the planet, and a player for the THIRD time in his career bites an opponent because the game wasn't going his way. Laughable or not isn't the Fifa motto Respect? They had to act. An example needed to be set. If he was a player of any other club in the world we as one would be saying he's a dirty cunt and would appauld the ban. At times some on here seem to think the worlds against us. Its really not. He is an unsporting little **** who happens to be an exceptional footballer. For all his skill we still haven't won the league. Sell him, move on and let's go again. He has tarnished the good name of our club for too long.

It's his problem, not Uruguay's. Can't have it both ways.

FIFA confirm that Luis Suarez will now have his World Cup accreditation cancelled. No access to FIFA stadiums, hotels etc. #Brazil2014

I probably went overboard with the blacklisted remark, but hey.

Its pretty obvious that bans don't work. They should have hit him where it hurts. They should have fined him 12 months wages.

Time to move on from this cluster****, his behaviour means he misses about a quarter of every season so we'll end up knocking 25% off his value and sell to Barcelona. According to the spanish press the move is still on
