I'd still keep him. Even instead of £71m

True, but Torres really got in the neck. I guess the fact he went to Chelsea - a direct rival made matters worse. If Suarez was going to Chelsea now, I image there would be less good will about.
      Oh I don't know.

Looking back at the time each had with us, I still preferred Torres to Suarez.
We worship Suarez's outrageous skill and tenacity on the field but Torres, I feel, was the more beloved player. We thought of Torres as one of us, underlined by writeups such as 'The King and the Kid', as a player who got the Kop.

I'll be interested to see how his relationship with Messi goes though, cant be shouting at him the way he does when Sturridge ****s up or shoots and misses when a pass was on. And he goes mental when teammates don't press, Messi was Berbatov esque last season.
          I think he will.

He may not be as aggressive, but i don't think he'll be able to take that away from his game.

Edit: at you to Mudds! Maybe they're both not great. Ronaldo gets slaughtered for his efforts too, not easy to score a free kick I suppose.
I thought he did quite well last year. This article from Jan supports mine (and Mudds I assume) views on the subject.

That being said, Gerrard is a very good free kick taker too and scored some crackers in his time.

This is surely exactly the reason why Torres is loathed and Suarez still loved!
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

                I think people are pragmatic about Suarez leaving because;
                1) they know if the release clause is meet it is out of our hands.
                2) Suarez has serious issues and potential one more misstep about from a ridiculously lengthy ban.
                3) he always gave his all and was never going to stay at Liverpool for the rest of his career.

For me personally it's less about him stay now and more how we reinvest the money.

This having been said I'm pissed off he won't give us another season when we were so close & back in Europe.
                  3rd place. Worst champions ever.

If he goes for 70 mill it is clearly a lot of money but I can't help but feel disappointed that it's not more.

Was expecting 80 million at least if not a ton.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

We wanted £80m, they wanted to pay £60m.

Meeting pretty much in the middle is not a bad deal. Anything with a 6 in front of it would be disappointing.

Thank Luis for helping us get into the Champions League. Surely that's worth an extra £10m to us (bringing up to £81m!)

£71m is acceptable imo, plus there's the £3m savings in wages (duration of his ban) so I guess you could say its £74m . Not bad for an ageing first class ****ing liability

Yeah, it was this, the timing of it, and the fact he went to a direct rival in Chelsea. I still think Torres paired with Suarez could have dramatically lead us to fourth that season.

I remember the mood being '**** off, Torres'. With Suarez it's 'Thanks for the great goals and memories, but you can kindly **** off now.'

What's the release clause and why would we accept less?
