As much as I love Luis and I really do the worst thing is it completely halts our progress, I really fancied a good title challenge this season but losing the best player in the league the player our team was built around will be massive and then the added impact of trying to fit in and bed in new players, it only makes last seasons failing feel even worse.

If I'm thinking of Rogers players who really add something to our starting 11, I can only think of Sturridge and Coutinho, who in my opinion disappointed last season.
I'm completely on the fence over Sakho (I know plenty others aren't), whilst Allen, Aspas, Mignolet, Assaidi, Sahin, Alberto, Borini, Moses, llori, Cissokho and a few others are a mixed bunch ranging from shocking to fairly average and thats over £70m or £55m without Sakho, the equivalent of the supposed Suarez transfer.
So whilst I'm not saying that Rogers transfer record is terrible, I am concerned that the money from Saurez will not be spent on players that will really take us to another level, and the signings so far with Lambert, Lallana and Can have done nothing to convince me otherwise. I think they'll be good squad players, but theres no magic there which we'll miss with the loss of Luis.
Its a waiting game now, but I feel we really need to get this summers transfers spot on or we'll pay the price with Champions League football on the horizon.

Talking about Suarez, then the time is definitely right i for financial reasons but also other factors IMO. But, I was talking about Huntelaar as a short term replacement and don't think he's necessarily too old if we're talking about a two year deal.Originally posted by Nigey View PostOn a pure financial level, it makes sense to cash in on him now.

He's not the sort of player we need, we have Lambert already I'd rather see us bring in someone with some pace and trickery; almost impossible to replace Luis like for like so I'd expect a slight tactics change and a move towards a single frontman (Sturridge) with players supporting him, Sanchez would be ideal for us but there are others out there as well

We'll definitely be playing with one frontman when Luis leaves. It's already clear with the transfer targets we're being linked with. Shaquiri, Sanchez, Markovic etc ... Think that's how Rodgers like to set his formations up anyway. We've had to accommodate Luis and Sturridge as a pair because they were outstanding. Are we winning?

Kinda get you on that.
