Good article and i agree we won't win the title, 4th spot is where it's at for us. That is our goal, personally if we finished 4th next season i'd be delighted. The "This is our year shout" is bit cringeworthy at this stage.

The likes of Henderson,Adam,Downing,Enrique etc are effective/potential is there etc and could end up being great signings, but i really want to see us landing at least 2 top quality players that will go straight into the first team, something that we can shout about, likes of Suarez signing that have that wow factor. Whether or not that happens i'm not sure, not for the lack of trying i'm sure but unfortunately other clubs are in better positions than us to attractive "a certain type" of player but i suppose we knew the lack of champs league would be a sticking point for many top players, especially foreign ones.

Anyways I love the transfer window, so exciting

If we were in the champions league I would be to, but those sort of players can get you a top 4 place if they have some quality around them to.

All hard workers, comfortable on the ball and very rarely injured ( maybe downing has had a few)

Once we get into the Champions league its a different story, gambling on two many foreigners could fail miserably at this stage who knows whether the likes of Mata would be a Silva or a Quaresma

We've just put down the best part of 50 million quid on Carroll and Henderson!

          That's a gamble!

If someone said you can have Adam, Downing and Enrique...or Mata, I'd take Mata.

while I agree that would be immense......if he stayed fit and climatised to england straightaway.

I would take those 3 over Mata to get us into a minimum top 4. I would take Mata over those 3 in the Champions league!!!

I'd of thought the price would be nearer £35 million for those 3

Think were forgetting where we came from recently. If Hicks and Gillett were still around we would be looking at offloading more of our decent players to pay the interest bill and signing more free transfers to plug the gaps. It would be continuing decay of the club and the team . Now we are debating the value of a whole raft of new players coming into the club. For myself I don't care how much they cost. If they aer better than what we have, and they sure are, what's the problem? Is the glass half full or half empty. With our previous owners we would not have a glass to worry about. Now we have owners who are clearly committed to spending big to get us back to the top. I intend enjoying the ride. Going to be an exciting close season and year to come. Whooeee!!

Can't agree really. We now have what could be a once in a generation opportunity to spend competitively. If we don't make the most of it we may not get the same chance again.

but we'd still need a left back.

however if it was a choice of

                        Enrique £10m Mata £25m

                        or

                        Enrique £10m, Dowing £15m and Adam £10m...

well then yeah - i'd take enrique and mata all day - we could cope without adam, and if kenny really felt we needed an extra body/creative mid then just keep aquilani for a season.

It should be one of Aquilani and Adam, not both of them. We don't need both.

I think that it is the Aquilani deal or no deal that hold up the Adam deal. As soon as Aquilani is sold then we will sign Adam.

If Rafa would have made the same kind of signings then he would have been slaughtered. Times change.

King Kenny is doing the right thing that think long term, just as Rafa did. I hope we fans are more patient this time.

Some signings will work out some will be rubbish. That is the way it is. What is important is that he get the chance to build the squad the way he want. Then we can see if it is a success or not in four five years time.

whilst it's exciting that we have signed henderson for £16m and we are 'close' to so many other signings...i find it still worrying....missing out on phil jones was a a bit of a come back down to earth that, we still might not get all our targets - and with wha'ts happened to us in previous windows, i guess i am just a bit worried about it all....

however if or once...we pull off our signings.....adam, downing, enrique and a centre back as priorities, with the possibility of marvquex and wickham coming in to fill out the squad...

well then i will be ****ing jizzing all over my desk

Were we ever actually in for Jones though, other than in the bored minds of the media?

We could easily cope next season without buying a left back this summer.

Aurelio, Johnson, Kelly, Flanigan...we'd be fine.

We should be buying a matchwinner this summer, basically another Suarez type to go on the other flank.
