Kenny did say that he trained the lads the day before the match at a very high tempo which kinda blows that apart I think
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Ahh, thought there must have been some sort of excuse for such a flat performance.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I'm not adverse to seeing that kind of result pre season. Despite what kenny said, imo, in the post match interview he looked pretty pissed off. A good rollocking is perfect in the pre season. Helps focus the minds of the players as to the expected standards and the consequences of not doing what you're told. You gotta have a stick for the carrot and stick approach to work and better it's wielded now when the cost of the lesson isnt three points.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Sorry Arn I hate to agree with Craig but that's bollocks.

We should be preserving our players fitness and taking advantage of the lack of european football in order to push for fourth place. We will earn far more from that than a few long distance friendlies.

If we do it in January or February then it would give the players a chance to get away from the cold weather in the UK and instead train a week or so in a better climate. It would help the players and the club would earn a few extra millions.

If you train in the sun and a hotter climate then you reduce the risk of getting injured.

                It's not exactly a secret.

Its something to look at. If there was a spare weekend in January/February then I'd consider a warm weather break with a meaningless friendly for mega bucks. Would have to be Middle East though, not US or Far East/South East Asia.

Liverpool signs on for Zamalek centenary

Liverpool agrees to face Zamalek in the Cairo giants' centenary ceremony next October after European giants Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan turned down the offer
Mahmoud Mohamed, Monday 25 Jul 2011

Zamalek have received an agreement letter from English premier league side Liverpool to participate in the Whites’ centenary celebrations.

“Liverpool agrees to play us in the centenary calibrations game next October,” Zamalek board member Ahmed Sherin Fawzy was quoted as saying on the club’s official site.

“We asked festival’s sponsor company to finalize the financial details with the English Premier League side,” he added.

“The management are waiting for Hassan Shehata’s approval before finalizing the deal with Liverpool,” Fawzy said.

One of Egypt's oldest clubs, Zamalek, established in 5 January 1911, were set to hold their 100-year festivity some months ago, but the celebrations were postponed with the country in the grips of the 25 January revolution.

The Cairo-based club initially approached Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan to host one of them in the their centenary ceremony but was deterred by the financial demands along with security concerns.

Zamalek have won the Egyptian league title 11 times and the Egypt Cup on 21 occasions. Their success also extends beyond Egypt, having won five African Champions League trophies and many other championships.
