Just wanted to start a new thread on this, because i'm pretty excited about these two...
Seen some footage on LFC TV from last season and it included, among other things, Andy Carroll's goals against City and the footage from our late (late) penalty at Arsenal.
Firstly Carroll - both City goals were very different, but both give a wonderful example of just how much of a monster this lad can be, if he gets himself consistently fit. The thunderbolt first goal was just that, absolute smasher and the kind of thing Carroll can do (he did it against us too, after all). And then the header (sorry Shaggy, but he DID get a touch on it
) was just immense. Not necessarily the header itself, but the way he completely ruined his marker in the air - absolute beast of a striker and if Downing arrives, whatever else i may think of him, he will provide delivery into the box, the kind Carroll should ****ing eat up for breakfast. Once he gets fit and fully settled, the raw materials he possesses seem to be too emphatic NOT to work. Cant wait.
And Suarez - not one of his goals i'm focusing on here, but his mentality. Before Lucas got fouled in the box at Arsenal, the whole developed from a freekick Suarez hit into the wall - arguably blocked by an arm. Suarez's reaction to this was sheer passion, screaming and demanding a penalty for handball - then Lucas was bundled over and the same again from Luis - and when the penalty was given, sheer euphoria.
Now some might say that's normal and to be expected, but for me, when a player goes as mental as a fan does, in response to us scoring a goal, or in this case, getting a penalty, that's ****ing superb. The guy has a serious serious desire, even obsession, with winning and i absolutely love that. That's the kind of mentality that wins trophies and the guy has it oozing out of him. You cant fail to love him
So yeah, along with the release of the live fixtures this morning, seeing this footage has got me really excited about these two and the new season generally.
Bring it on!
(And make the most of this, i'll probably be feeling down again by tomorrow
)
