Arsenal was when we blew it IMO, thanks to that wee Russian Cunt!Originally posted by Fierce View PostYou've seen the thread starter, right?
It was definitely our best side in 20 years, well probably anyway. In fact yes, in terms of balance
But IMO, the 2nd placed 2009 season is a bit of a misnomer. We only came second because we absolutely had to go for it, all guns blazing, in the last 3 or 4 months of the season. Had we played like that all along we'd have walked it, I had no idea we were capable of playing like that and similarly, why we didn't do it more often
That clutch of games, Madrid, Arsenal etc we were absolutely unreal, why couldn't we play like that all the time!If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

We had as good a first team as any yet we still came up short in all competitions. Says it all really.
It just goes to show that football these days is a squad game and as much as we all like trying to write down formations that fit all our better players, it's vital to remember that we need more than just XI players to do well.
Is it a problem that we can't decide whether to play Kuyt or Henderson on the right? Is it a problem we can't find a space for Meireles after an improving first season at the club?
Should be two up top? Should that two be Suarez and Carroll, or Suarez and Kuyt? Or should we go three up top with Downing and Suarez out wide and Kuyt/Carroll in the middle?
In fact, forget Suarez, Carroll, Adam, Henderson and Downing. How's about a front three of Gerrard on the left, Kuyt through the middle and Maxi on the right? Then a midfield three of Aquilani, Meireles and Lucas.
We could go on all night. That's without mentioning the battle for RB between Kelly, Johnson and Flanagan. Or Andre Wisdom.
We have a good squad friends. And good squads are competitive over the course of a season no matter what injuries/suspensions they get.
And the signings haven't even finished.Forwards.......

I've never seen us play anyone off the park like that and not get the right result, similar to the Sao Poula gameOriginally posted by RedReet View PostArsenal was when we blew it IMO, thanks to that wee Russian Cunt!Last edited by El Diego; 14-07-11, 08:13 PM.I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06
Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
