The way I see it how is basically that one of Aquilani and Meireles has to go. Meireles' stock is as high as it is ever going to be so selling him makes sense and Aquilani has a touch of class that others don't have.

Henderson will be vying for the inside right position with Maxi as well as Kuyt who will also be offering backup for up top.

Downing will be on the left with Lucas, Adam and Aquilani starting in the middle.

With Suarez and Gerrard looking likely to be out for the start season it seems we will be looking like this for the beginning of the season in the front 6:

    Carroll
    Downing--Aquilani--Kuyt
    Adam--Lucas

With Kuyt playing closer to Carroll and either Johnson or Kelly depending on who is playing to offer width on the right.

First game is against Sunderland and imo Hendo will probably start, Kuyt will likely not be dropped (not yet) and it's doubtful Lucas will be available.

Henderson has to be the most overlooked signing I've ever seen. Whenever we signed a player, even when it was Milan freaking Jovanovic, people were putting him in the first team like it was automatic. And there you have a 16m signing, yet his status as a "squad player" is almost a consensus among fans, and people are overlooking him even when Gerrard and Suarez are "not available".

It's amazing, I don't remember anything like it.

The loan out option is doing well

Where is Hodgson when you need him

And yet, it's the one that's going to happen...

Agree with a lot of this, but there's no way Aqualani will get in the team ahead of Henderson, in my opinion.

I think Kenny bought him for here and now.

I think that would be insane personally. Aquilani has shown more than Henderson and is clearly, at present more accomplished.

Good point in regards to Lucas above, so its very possible that we will be seeing Spearing instead of Lucas. I guess a 4-4-2 with Henderson is possible but if Lucas is out then there is no way Kenny will go with only 2 in midfield.

Henderson will play **** loads next season. I think he's gonna be a star.

Maybe not. He just tweeted stating he'll be back in training next week.

Probably a good thing for him, takes the pressure off. Personally I expect to see a fair bit of him. On the right or in the centre.

I think people are going to be in for a shock when they watch him play from up close and realise he's very good. Excellent passer with an incredible engine and work rate, he'll end up being a fan favourite down the road, a bit like Kuyt.

So far he's only second to Downing.

                                Right now:

                                Downing 47%
                                Aquilani 21%
                                Henderson 15%
