Please stop complicating the issues, dww.

I don't visit this site to get an understanding of reality, I use it simply because I enjoy watching people vent.

And yes, I have just exited the Amy Winehouse thread.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I don't think it matters Dave as his contract will be worth that much less anyway surely ?

Keep him till Xmas at the least IMO and sell the dross. It's just like Rick Parry is back at present
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I haven't got an opinion actually because I haven't watched any of the pre-season games.

I'm more interested in why the club would loan him out
If he's been our best player in pre-season
I could be wrong but have no doubt
There has to be a reason

He signed a 5 year contract, so it's not as if he would be off on a free. If we got say £5m loan fee (with an agreed full transfer fee for next summer) and they paid his wages then it is a fair bit we have made back. Obviously I have no idea how likely that is.

I'm not sure how we are supposed to sell people if there are no interested buyers. I think people have very unreasonable expectations of what we can do in the market. From the perspective of buyers we are in a very week position - i.e. we have too many players, need to get rid of some and get in some money for new signings. There is no reason for them to come in with big offers. We are still having to work through a backlog from the last owners.

If Kenny doesn't see Aquilani as an option he fancies then keeping him (on big wages) seems a bit counter productive.

Obviously our hands are tied if we have no outright offers, but I don’t see any logic in another loan deal. In theory his value should be at it’s peak right now on the back of a relatively successful and injury free season. He could well flop at Fiorentina or pick up another injury and best case scenario is he has another good season, but he’ll be another year closer to 30 with less time on his contract dropping his value even further.

Even if we agree a fee with Fiorentina, we could have the Juve scenario all over again.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

They could probably buy him for 5mil more I'd have thought a fee closer to 2 mil would have been closer but I have no evidence to confirm that assumption

That wasn't poetry. It was doggerel.

Doggerel is a derogatory term for verse considered of little literary value. The word probably derived from dog, suggesting either ugliness, or unpalatability (as in food fit only for dogs).
                              Dog = ugliness

                                Ugly? I think not.
