Conveniently miss off Roma, Juve and the decent spell he had for us when he had a run and just concentrate on pre season and write him off on that.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostCome on Torres, player of pre season? against pubs teams in asia and a cameo against the mighty norweigans? yet the first decent team we've played and the game has a quick tempo and he's gone missing. So no, I was a doubter before and this backs up my opinion of him.
Our pre season may well have been against inferior sides (who beat us a bit) but he still shone when all around him struggled. As I said though, he had an excellent season with Juve and was excellent with Roma, so to disregard his obvious talent because of a single game against Valencia is absurd.
Aquilani is very talented, he's far from cack.

If fashion crimes were sex then Poulsen's jumper is a threesome. Heinous.

Poulsen should be sold today for no other reason than that jumper. With horses on.

Tidy on the ball, decent crosser and a willing runner.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostGot to confess - and don't ****ing slaughter me for it
- but I don't get Jordan Henderson. Not yet anyway. Said before I've hardly seen him play so I accept I'm not very well informed, but from what I've seen so far I don't get him, what he's supposed to be or what he's supposed to do. The one thing that stands out is his 'engine' and how much running he gets through. Otherwise, I'm stuck (at this admittedly very very early stage).
Genuinely think he is going to be a success for us.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

What is ****ing absurd is that you were the one mentioning that he was player of 'pre season', yet I merely said the opposition had been piss poor and the one decent team we've faced combined with a fairly pacey tempo and he went missing. That is a fact. I actually think he's a skilful player but he's at his best with time on the ball. He just won't get that over here. I care little for what he did last year in Italy because it means **** all.Originally posted by Suarez View PostConveniently miss off Roma, Juve and the decent spell he had for us when he had a run and just concentrate on pre season and write him off on that.

I still don't really know what type of player he is supposed to be or what we expect him to develop into. I think Kenny could mould him into a number of different types of players the question is which one will he become. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I agree, he could turn out to be like some very different players. Whenever I watch him on the right I find myself thinking of Johnston with a bit more skill. Or perhaps Houghton with more pace.
Or Kuyt with more skill and more pace but less solid, probably due to lack of experience..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.
